Glasto!!!!!

Ok I will eat some humble pie on EJ tonight.
He bawled his way through most of his legendary hits as he can no longer hit the highs, but overall it was a memorable performance, his band are also great. Guitars & Percussion second to none this year.
EJ can still play piano really well, sounded like Jules Holland in places with the honky tonk bits.
I didnt like the Kiki Dee replacement or the front guy from The Killers wearing in his new teeth.
The tribute to George Michael was a nice touch, especially mentioning that it would have been his 60th birthday, makes us all feel old eh?
The Finale song Rocket Man was really good, especially the extended jam bit at the end along with the Fire works, it will be remembered for many years.
So Thanks Elton, you did yourself proud. (y)

£5k. I have a friend who used to do it, but stopped because the price of a pitch was so prohibitive and you have to buy all your supplies from the Eavises to boot.
I bet Glasto is much, much more than 5K these days with a captive crowd of 200,000 people, It wouldn't surprise me to find the food/drink vending pitches start at 10K these days, hope someone will have some up to date feedback.
Just think about a Tepee 6 person tent was £1500 each to hire, then entry fees on top for each person, and I could see there were many, many of them up the hill on the tele.

Oh yes , he likes to cover all bases ,remember he ‘employed ‘ workers on zero hrs a few yrs ago , i suppose to save a couple of pounds ? when his chum corbyn was rallying the crowd .

It seemed to me a lot of the acts were under 25 years old while the others were pensioners, great show thought

Is the farm on which Glastonbury is held a working dairy farm for the rest of the year ?

If so how do any vegans square going to Glastonbury with their food principles ?

Apparently the average cost is £8500, dearest £18,000.
And only £9 for a burger, bargain 😂😂

Why the question? They are not being asked to look after the animals. Would you expect vegans not to go for walks in the countryside incase they had to walk through a field of sheep.

Enjoyed the EJ set. Fully understand adapting Some of the songs to suit his voice these days.
Still think for me the highlight of the day was Cat Stevens.
Absolutely nailed it.
I just checked his set and it was brilliant. I saw his first (?) festival performance at Cropredy years ago. His songs are great - and you can hear the words!!!

Thats because he's shouting - not singing 😀. No subtlety to his voice whatsoever - dreadful.
He’s never had a good voice so why at 76ish would you expect him to suddenly get one 😊 Never been a great fan of him but I thought his performance and music was really enjoyable 👍

Lightening Seeds
Foo fighters
Arctic monkeys for me.

Was going to go this year but seeing Muse at MK bowl on Sunday night instead. Just cycling distance from my house. Less hassle!!!
We saw Muse in Huddersfield last week, amazing.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Loved Elton John's set better than I thought he would be, he was never a great singer but his songs and piano playing made up for it. I also enjoyed Cat Steven's and Sharleen Spitari Texas.

I could no more stand in a field with all those people than I could poke my eye out, I think I would poke my eye out first, then many on here wouldn't want to attend football. I watched Elton John, thought he was very good.

OK, I think I am done with BIG gigs like these.

I didn't try to get tickets Glastonbury as I had tickets for Muse at Milton Keynes bowl which is a nice gentle 15 min cycle ride for me. Good support from Royal Blood and The Warning.

However, the crowd rammed like sardines, over officious rules on what you cannot take into the site, the overpriced food and drink (after the overpriced tickets, booking fees) and then add the ignorant behaviour by a sizeable minority. Punters are treated like s*** after paying ridiculous prices for 4 hours of entertainment.

I shall just look out for up and coming starts at local venues or declining stars at small friendly festivals in the future.

Starting with Razor light, The Feeling, Embrace and Hot house flowers at Audley End English Heritage concert in August. They even let you take chairs and a picnic in!!!

wonder what the carbon footprint is for glasto?
This year in the press , the organisers said

Chairs, picnic blankets aren't uncommon.

Just check what's allowed before you buy.

Also, if you like Razorlight, lookout for Jealous Nostril (y) (a Johnny Borrell project)

edit:  if you don't look out for ALL my music festival related posts, this is Sign Of The Time Festival, 17/06/2023
