Glasto!!!!!

Fred again was the best we've watched so far. Live samples, playing keyboard, singing and mixing in other elements. Very talented. Play it loud and if you don't like one song skip to the next, they are all quite different 😎

Will have to catch Foos later but really enjoying Arctic Monkeys. You’d never guess he’d had laryngitis earlier this week.

Arctic monkeys for me.

Was going to go this year but seeing Muse at MK bowl on Sunday night instead. Just cycling distance from my house. Less hassle!!!

Sparks were one of the backup bands to Hawkwind when I was Lancaster University in 1975 the other back up band were called Queen, they were quite good too !!!!! :giggle:
SWMBO remembers seeing Queen as a support band too.

Later on, I went to se Hawkwind with Ginger Baker drumming for them .

Saw Muse at V - so good, they put in a great show. Love MK bowl, saw Bon Jovi and Eminem there, I envy your proximity as I remember it took a couple of hours just to leave the car park 😱

Been here since Tuesday morning. The Foo Fighters surprise appearance this afternoon (billed as the ChurnUps) was probably the worst kept secret in Glastonbury history. Short but powerful and emotional set. Monkeys could have put together a more crowd pleasing set list, but just about pulled it off.

As ever, it's the overall spectacle that makes the biggest impression at the festival. It is complete sensory overload. This year, I loved the return of Car Henge.

We haven't been since 1982. Thought that the 25k crowd was getting far too big compared to earlier years!

I thought the Artic Monkeys were awful , Alex Turner doing his best diva impression , they were like a crap tribute band doing a poor AM set . Best days definitely behind them .

Well I loved it. Like any good band they develop and change. I thought they did a nice balanced set of the old classic hits and some of their newer more laid back stuff. Musically still at th top of their game. You get the same comments by Muse fans who want them just the sound the same as they did in their first album.

Bands that don't progress, develop, change just become boring tribute acts to themselves. They'll lose some fans sure but there are plenty enough left to keep them as one of the biggest bands around today.

All artists only have so much creative juice in the tank and usually run out of artistic fuel as time goes on .
AM are running on fumes , it takes a unique talent to destroy your greatest hits back catalogue by turning them into dirges that even a festival crowd yawns at .

I think the band line up would have to be a hellover lot better before I would pay the following prices, incredible to think that 200,000 fans are attending at todays prices, plus they have to eat & drink as well!o_O Beer starts at £6 a pint, Pizza or Burgers are £15, hate to think how much a food vending pitch has to pay to get a place at Glasto.

How much are tickets for Glastonbury 2023?

Your Glastonbury ticket gets you access to the site, including the numerous camping spots, for the whole weekend from Wednesday to Monday - but coach travel, car parking, pre-erected tents and other optional extras will set you back extra.

People who managed to get their hands on 2023 tickets in the main sale last autumn were required to pay a £50 deposit to secure their ticket, followed by a balance of £285 and a £5 booking fee in April - totalling £340 in total.

A number of tickets also go on sale as coach packages. If you get your hands on these tickets you have to spend £340 on your ticket as well as the price of your coach fare - which ranges from £41 to £140 depending on where in the country you're travelling from.

What about the extras?

If you want to drive to the site and park your car there, a car park pass for 2023 costs £55. If you want to take a campervan or caravan that's an additional cost of £150 for a standard pitch or £250 for a large one.

Glastonbury also has pre-erected tipis that sleep up to six adults and they cost £1,500 to hire for the weekend.

And once you're there you'll likely want the odd beer and a good hearty meal. There are a number of bars as well as hundreds of food vendors to choose from.

This year, the price of a pint starts at £6 in most bars. Burgers and fries have been spotted for £15 while £15 seems to be the going rate for a pizza too. Vodka singles have been spotted for £5 and you can purchase prosecco for £10 a glass.

I really enjoyed it myself and liked the opening track staging (a jaded Saturday night fever feel which was quite intentional I thought) and considering he allegedly had just had laryngitis as well.

Not a fan of all their stuff though and definitely not Tranquility Base Hotel 😬

Went in the MH in 2013, the year of the Stones (and Bruce Forsyth). It’s unique. Felt very old at 57 amongst the youngsters, but absolutely, completely and utterly loved it! There’s a saying about appreciating things long after you’ve forgotten the cost - that’s Glastonbury. Michael Eavis deserves a gong.

Little know fact about Queen…they played their first concert in Truro in 1970, at
that point ‘Smile’ became ‘Queen’ and Freddie Mercury made his first appearance. Roger Taylor’s family lived in Cornwall and his mother promoted and arranged the concert in support of the Red Cross. Queen were paid £50, the rest is history!

Enjoying the Manics at th mo. Good reliable folk kicking out the same mediocre middle of th road rock but I like them!

Jacob Collier, on earlier, is a talented ******. He plays anything that makes a sound - and to virtuoso level!
