Having researched and spoke to a few people a little while ago, I'd decided on which refillable LPG kit to buy, I skillfully lost the notes, and forgot what I was told to me over the phone. I remember it was either Gaslow, or Gas-Itt ......... but which one has the edge over the other ?

any help much appreciated !

thanks

Paul

I've had various systems over the years and there's really not much difference on any. My original many moons ago was an underslung gas tank but it corroded. I then bought a pair of Gasit bottles and when they date expired I had a pair of Gaslows fitted by Autogas at Thirsk. Probably down to price but nothing more in my experience.
I'd very highly recommend Autogas. One of the last remaining professionals.

i have had a GasiT twin cylinder system on our van for the past few years, and very happy. There appears to be only a small difference between gasit and gaslow in terms of quality. the price difference is quite a bit more though for the gaslow.

I considered the various options and decided to buy an 11kg Gas-it refillable system. It cost a little less than GasLow, but appears to be similar/same spec.

Two years on, very happy with it.

I have a twin Gas-It system fitted. Works well and dirt cheap to fill up. You can get 10% discount if you are ex Forces and have a Blue Light card

I opted for the Gaslow system 1x 11kg 1x6 kg with the gauges on top to check levels, i looked at Gas-it system and its true there is not much between them and i was told while enquiring they are made in the same factory as Gas low !!!.. i bought them from Hamilton Gas, free delivery and at a very reasonable cost.
Me and my son fitted them.... He is a qualified gas engineer.

I bought twin cylinder GasIt kit and fitted myself two years ago very happy with it and no problems and good saving against Gaslow.??

Single 11kg Gas-it system in my van, I looked at both and Gas-It won on price.

I bought 2 Gaslow 13kg bottles some time ago no problems with fridge , Cooker or heating, we can go for five weeks in Spain in winter without the need to refill. Alde is less thirsty than the Truma in the previous MH .
Horses for Courses of course .

2 x 11kg gaslow now in 3rd motorhome and 12 years old. lovely no heavy lifting of bottles for all of that time, and the amount of money I have saved on gas

I have fitted four gas-it systems for myself and others.
There would appear to be little difference on the equipment between Gas-it and Gaslow, but Gas-it equipment is the cheaper of the two plus you can get a 5% discount with the Gas-it MotorhomeFun discount code.

Do think yellow is prettier than red that is the difference. Slight price change.

Thanks for this Toady, I was just about to order a new Gas It system and had no idea they offered discount for BLC which I happen to have. Happy days :party3:

Main difference in price is down to stainless steel versus rubber hoses. Stainless lifespan of circa twenty years whilst rubber is five to ten years (or whosever figures you want to believe!)

Not one person has mentioned the Gaslow 10 year warranty ?
Cylinders aren’t made in the same factory
Gaslow has a multivalve with an excess flow valve and a much more accurate mechanical contents gauge.
Gasit plus is similar in specification .
Actual cylinder prices are very similar it’s the hoses that aren’t.

Grey filler point available too ,which looks good on this Burstner .

Aren't they out of date & need replacing?
No Lenny the earlier bottles are 15 years before they need testing or what ever they are going to do.
Still I only have 8 months before I have to apply for C1 for the second time. I had to have exercise ECG last time and I struggled, now I am having more problems with left leg so van may have to go at end of August. But if it does I would inform purchaser of bottle age.

I fitted a gaslow 11kg for the better gauge (at same price as gasit) and gasit hoses for price. Also prefer the asthetics of a nice yellow tank. Gauge not an issue now as i got a pair of Mopeka sensors just before Christmas. Suppliers Hamilton's ,sailandtrail, Amazon.com

I have a 2 x 11Kg Gaslow system inherited with the van, fitted around 2012 I think. The bottles have '15 year warranty' printed all over them.

Started removing them the other day to inspect the compartment and noticed that one of the cylinders non-return valves used to fill was leaking (not to atmosphere - back up the line).

Sent them an email and they very promptly (within a few hours) offered to switch the valve and test/inspect both of the cylinders under warranty. I've got to take them to their HQ in Loughborough.

Excellent service so far. The system itself is great, usually costs around £20 - £30 to fill and we're good for roughly two weeks of heating and cooking, we've been living in the van since October.

Good luck with the C1 I hope you are able to keep going.

There are differences between makes and types, there are even two different types labelled Gas It. I have an 11kg Gaslow R67 and a 6Kg GasIt Plus. If you want info from approved source have a word with www.vangas.co.uk I had both mine fitted by them at different times. Great advice and great prices ?

I had a single 11kg Gaslow fitted before picking up the MH. As usual with any new toy I went through all the options of what extras I needed and almost convinced myself I needed 2 bottles. Thought I'd start with one and very glad I saved the weight and expense of fitting a second. I can't believe how long the gas lasts nor how cheap they are to fill up.

Basildog excellent installation. Like you, I have the Gaslow pressure gauge. Very useful for checking for leaks.

I also noticed that after filling up a lot in mainland Europe the overall pressure was decreasing (mix of butane/propane). Next time filled up in UK with 100% propane and full pressure restored.

A long time ago, when hardware stores had plain T&G on the floor (no covering) and were owned by folk who knew about hardware, I went into one to buy some Paraffin (they always smelt of that, too). The old guy behind the counter asked me if I wanted 'Pink' or plain. I asked what the difference was to which he replied, "Thruppence." I think it's much the same between GasLow and GasIt. Keep them hidden in your locker and no-one will know. If you're precious about colour, I'd get the yellow ones.

AS most people we did our research too (but didn't lose it)
We realised that the different was negligible but the cost difference was quite large so we went Gasit and fitted it myself , then got a gas fitter to do the checks for the insurance company
Which then the insurance company didn't need :(

We have a 2x 11kg sustem with external filler and have filled it 5 times without problems

That’s why Gaslow do a different gauge for Butane as the pressure is much lower ⚠?
