Are you on your way back to the UK or is that a photo lifted from the net

Sorry but have to disagree, on it 4 weeks ago and thought it was excellent. Very clean, good food, cheap beer and helpful staff. Trouble with TripAdvisor is that generally folk post bad reviews but not so many post good reviews.
My personal opinion of course

Most ships not showing signs of rust are wooden.
Quite so.
For a while I worked at Falmouth shipyard liaising between the yard, ship operators, surveyors and the owners for inspections/repairs/refits/repaints of cargo ships, naval vessels, P&O and Brittany ferries. The appearance of rust stains is entirely normal even within a few weeks of a repaint.

You need to worry when they go round with a hammer chipping the rust away.
Only problem is the increase in price on the crossing.

I used to work forcunard, now I’m more relaxed.

I don’t know about a bigger boat, that guy will need a bigger power washer.
When doing a respray (ship in dry dock) the painters sprayed the topsides from cherry pickers. We put out 'No parking' warning signs on the roads around the yard as overspray could drift a couple of hundred yards yet we still had irate people who had ignored the signs (mostly holidaymakers) complaining about their spotty cars. :giggler:

A week ago Dorset Lady and I sailed on Galicia Portsmouth to Santander 30 hrs. The weather was wonderful, the crew and staff were brilliant, the food was delicious and the restaurant service was impeccable. Annoyingly I couldn't find a reason complain 😋.

I don’t know the date of your photo but mine is from 26th January 2022 and no sign of rust here, we had a good trip on our way across, staff, food and facilities were excellent.

One week later this was streaked with rust, they never stay like this for long, even in black

The rust was from yesterday 16th.

Did not enjoy the Portsmouth Santander trip on the Galicia two weeks ago and had the Pont Aven Santander to Plymouth booked for the end of April. I’m off the idea of a long crossing so changed the booking to Cherbourg to Portsmouth instead as it’s only 6 hours. Would you believe that it’s on the Galicia as well.

The rust is predominantly on the welds and is probably down to the difference in chemistry of the weld metal and the ships plates setting up a galvanic action in the presence of seawater..The welds probably need priming with a marine undercoat initially before the general overcoat applied. Just repainting will only be cosmetic and the welds will rust primarily again. (y)
