Can anybody confirm what the land mass is in the picture? I'm on the beach at New England Bay looking South East 139 degrees. Not the best piccy.

Mates got a caravan in the Isle of Whithorn and you can see IOM clearly on a good day...

Port William area South Ayrshire. Nice site you're on :giggle:.

I wild camped up at the lighthouse one summers evening, over to my left was Northern Ireland, behind me was The Isle of Man, to my right was the Cumbrian coast, I was in Scotland & could also see the Kingdom of Heaven.

I was down on that coast this week & could see The Isle of Man & Cumbrian coast very clearly & my guess is that you were looking at the Cumbrian coast & fells.

It will be IOM easily seen from there, I think it’s only about 25 miles away.

I've mentioned this on here before, but the Mull of Galloway lighthouse is further south than Middlesboro.

The lighthouse in the photo is at the most southern part of Scotland, the mull.
We've just come back from a trip there.

IoW, where the love lorn (for you romantics - lust demented for all other) young man launched his Jet Ski from and belted over to the IoM to see the girl friend

Had the same discussion with my wife last month, it’s the lake district and the town you can make out is Silouth. Enjoy its a lovely campsite.

I doubt it will be Silloth as you won’t see that from New England bay.

OP said looking SE / 139. Silloth is more ENE

Totally correct longer, I was confused as we were at a camp site near powfoot when we had the discussion.

It's definitely the Isle of Man. The "lumpy" rock islets you can see to the left (and closer) are The Scares.
