Ford Euro6 Blue-what MPG do you get? (1 Viewer)

As above, my son has just bought a new Chausson with the latest Ford Euro6 Blue engine and so far he's not too impressed with the fuel consumption which is hovering around the 20 mark. He popped into his local Ford agent and asked what he should be getting and was stunned with the reply "15 - 20mpg". Is this accurate? As he said, if this had been what he was quoted when he was looking he wouldn't have bought. He was actually quoted 30-35mpg by the m/h dealer.

Not sure about the Ford but my Mercedes PVC auto 163 bhp euro 6 on run will manage 27, around town 22 mpg.

140hp mk7 with 4 poster on top, max I get is 26mpg, generally 23 mpg with a toad. 70+ mph gives 18mpg, you press the loud pedal and pay your choice.

We are getting 30/35 ish average when driven steadily on a 2018 ecoblue engine 170hp auto, I have heard a few people say they loosen up with a few miles on them.
Other points to note regarding MPG, the shape of the front of the van can have a pronounced effect, I was told that up to 10mpg reduction for the overcab style bed which adds a beak to the front.
Also driving style, forward observation and planning/ type of road will make a big difference, when we were in hilly Cumbria on A roads the van was certainly more thirsty.

We've a Mk7 140 bhp transit and average 26.9 on the trip computer. We do usually drive at the legal limit on motorways though it would be less fuel used if we slowed. I think driving style makes a big difference.

If its any help, we have a number of layest Transit Custom 340‘s on our fleet, probably running at 3.1 to 3.3 tonnes
We limited them to 70 mph and they returned circa 24to 26mpg. We changed the limiters in April to 60 mph ( which is the speed limit for a panel van on a dual carriageway) and we now get 30 mpg
They do 35k miles a year ….so that saves us £1000 per year per van on fuel

Like others have said also, marked improvement after 3,000 miles

Just thinking about that we have done about 35k in 7 years in the MH. So if we drove at 60 at the most we would save£150 a year I think I'll just carry on the same!

Yes I get that….but as a company, the economies of scale are compelling

27 mpg on a run with my 2.2 Mercedes 9 speed auto BMCi 690, but it has improved with a few miles on it, about 7k now, so hopefully your sons will too

We averaged about 28 mpg with a transit based euramobile with an overcab now got a Renault based Adria again with an overcab this one gives between 22 and 26 mpg again the brick aerodynamics don't help plus the 3.9 T plated weight should be fun watching the fuel gauge go down when we set off for Turkey in it.

It has 25 K on the clock and having had it since new the MPG has not improved.

Just back from giving ours a run out, trip computer showing average of 9.6 Litres per 100km.which works out to 29.42mpg. 170bhp.automatic with less than 2000km.on it so should improve slightly I would think.

Spookily similar to ours ! Ours will easily drift up to 70mph unless the wind is directly ahead, but has a sweet spot around 62/63mph which gives just over 28 mpg !

Usually we tend to do motorway runs with more or less constant speeds, but over the last couple of days have been around Ripon / Pateley in North Yorks. The hills round there are HUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEEE so the MH had lots of revs. Tell you what tho. It was like having an Italian tune-up ! Afterwards the engine felt a lot livelier and seemed more willing, maybe the mpg will improve as well !

Problem I found that the 2.2 puma engine feels strained at 62mph. I know I ran it like that for 3 months till I had the limiter removed now I drive at 70mph and it feels on the power the turbo is running fully. Could be that at 62 it isn't really running very efficiently. However if a coachbuilt overhead bunk van it will use more fuel.
