Jaws , Northernraider , suavecarve , Peter and Julie , Rockcrawler , Two on Tour , Boringfrog , Tagged you guys as I think you all have drones.

'er indoors & daughter gave me a drone for Chrissy not as good as a Mavic but pretty good for a beginner it's a Holy Stone HS720E. Annoying can't fly it a home legally as we live a few hundred yards from a light aircraft airport, I'll keep quiet about the test flights in the garden.

I've got me Flyer ID, Operator ID & 3rd party insurance.
Wondering what you guys do when flying abroad, according to the CAA the test & Flyer ID are the same in the UK as in all EU countries & Switzerland & Norway.
From info online you still have to complete the test and get a Flyer ID for each country you fly in. So if this is the case do you guys have any info and links about getting the Flyer ID's in other countries as it would be easier to sort it out before we go traveling.

Pssst don't tell anyone but i don't check nothing when abroad. Mine will automatically tell me if im within a certain distance of restricted airspace etc in which case i wont fly it ...but otherwise i just don't bother. I never bothered renewing my stuff in the uk this year either as i doubt i will fly it there now. Too many restrictions.

Got all the stuff for brit flying ( do not forget to put your pilot ID on your drone ) and like Northern Raider I just use my loaf when abroad..
Only fly in deserted of VERY empty places
In Spain a few years ago had plod stop by and watch me for a while.. eventually came over and I thought I was in trouble !
Nope.. just wanted info as he was aiming to get one !

Yet to fly it abroad and havent got a clue about the legality and not overly concerned at all in the places i expect to fly it as will be in the middle of nowhere.

The times I've flown my drone when abroad, on the whole, has been where it's free of people.

I wanted to get some drone footage from over the standing stones at Carnac, so just waited until early evening when the crowds had died down and flew it then and kept within the area which is out of bounds to the public.

Use your common sense and don't piss people off sums it up really.

I have just bought and fitted stealth propellers which cut the noise down a bit to try and reduce the annoyance to anybody in earshot of my drone.

Unfortunately your in the special group in Spain.

🙂 Bob.
Just had a quick look through looks the same as the UK.
It says if you are a non EU resident you need a flyer ID from an EU country, hopefully other EU countries say the same so just need to do the online test in an EU country, that makes it easy to be legal.

Hi Lenny
The same as mine HS720E. Thankfully I have a few acres so can fly here without trouble. Obviously living near Shoreham Airport is not ideal. Take it up on the downs.

Geoff

They say people check out villas here before breaking in to them, but providing your not doing that it shouldn't be a problem, we watched someone with his last week he was down at sea level going along the coast, obviously filming but not hovering over anyone's home, 😉 probably looking for naturists. 😁 Bob.

Turkey , just about impossible legally for non residents , penalties can be severe. although a lot still seem to do it ?

Germany same as UK apart from height limit 100m instead of 120, must not fly closer than 100m to a railway or motorway and must have insurance.

I fail to see how cameras on drones are legal when it is illegal to film out from your proerty using cctv ,all of which must be licenced & registered?

Is it okay to take a photo looking out from your property with a still camera in Spain?

We had two estate agents at the front of our complex, the one nearest our drive though electric gate, put up a camera recording the road at the side of his premises and his vehicle parked there, our administrator's said it's illegal take it down, he covered it up and spoke to the town hall and the Guardia Civil and they told him to uncover it, that was good security for us but unfortunately they moved premises. 🤔 Bob.

A couple of British/Australian travelers didn't fare to well using their drone in Iran.

Only ever had problems in Germany. They hate drones! Dont even allow street view....

Be aware that flying in Morocco is not allowed. You also MUST declare your drone when entering the country and if they discover an undeclared drone coming in or going out they will confiscate it

Certain words come to mind, pick whichever one you think is most appropriate: stupid, reckless, naive ...

As long as it includes no persons outside the property or vehicles with persons in as they have to be pixellated ,as do the number plates.
cctv has to be licenced & installed so that it views in towards your property & without showing street views of people passing & cannot be positioned so that it is looking in to neighbouring properties. Signs have to be installed stating that cctv & recording is taking place along with the licence numbers.
dash cams get around it by overwriting & are ok as long as you do not download & save them or upload them to the internet. Any picture showing police without pixellated faces is a criminal offence.

Hi Gus.......do you have a reference for all this as my other half takes loads of fotos in public areas and from bars beaches etc! As many end up on line in one form or another I'd hate for her to fall foul of the law...... even as an amateur she has had the local / provisional tourist board and council ask to use some of her work so they are clearly been seen by many !

Only in spanish?
https://www.aepd.es/sites/default/files/2019-12/guia-videovigilancia.pdf

The above link states most of the rules with 5/5,1 being dash cams & 5,2 drones.

https://www.prevent.es/es-legal-la-instalacion-de-camaras-de-vigilancia-con-grabacion-de-audio

"No se podrán utilizar videocámaras para tomar imágenes ni sonidos del interior de las viviendas, ni de sus vestíbulos, salvo consentimiento del titular o autorización judicial, ni en lugares públicos, abiertos o cerrados, cuando se afecte de forma directa y grave a la intimidad de las personas, así como tampoco para grabar conversaciones de naturaleza estrictamente privada”.

Translates as this;

"Videocameras may not be used to take pictures or sounds from inside dwellings or from their lobbies, unless the owner or the court has given his consent, or in public places, open or closed, where the privacy of persons is directly and seriously affected, as well as to record conversations of a strictly private nature".
