Fiat 2.8 ???.

Its an old thread I know, but can I ask if there were any 3.0 16v engines fitted to x244 chassis. I have been told there were in auto only. I can only see them as being introduced with the x250.
My own van is a Hymer x244 built 2006 first registered July 2007. ( The VWT2 image is my first camper bought in 79. Its a J reg, 1970 - I want it back!!!). There have been a few in between.

The 3 litre Fiats were introduced 2007 as far as I know, in both manual and auto.
Iveco introduced them in 2004 I think ours is a 2005 model with 3 litre Iveco

Thanks CazPaul. Thats what I thought. I knew it was an Iveco lump, but did not know they had indroduced it on their chassis as early as 2004. I asked because I have seen a 2007 registered, but on the earlier x244 chassis, as mine is, but with the 3ltr engine and manual box. I think that is an error, but who knows what new or old bits get mated onto a chassis at the end of its run. it will be an odd one if correct.

Yes I think I know the van you are talking about, the Hymer on Facebook group 2006 model.

When we bought our 'van (see left) we did not have the knowledge to understand the minutiae of engines fitted to Fiats.
As a result we have a Late September 2007 first Registered 'van, fitted with the 2.8JTD engine.

I suppose what I'm highlighting is that the 'cutoff' date for the Fiat 2.8 lump is not necessarily 2006. Certain manufacturers were that besotted with turning out the X250 front end fitted with 'Juddergate' 2.3 engines in 2006 that some X244 2.8 front ends were left behind. (THANK GOD!!!)
And lots of 2007 vans were manufactured back in 2005/2006..BUSBY.

And this is what I said, (further down the thread)
"Nearly right @nomad.

Only ours was actually 2005!!! October to be precise. It took Hobby about 11mths to get it completed and then another 12mths for a very large Dealership in Newark to sell it. (Not to us, I hasten to add)"
