Been looking at the various options, and for some reason I am getting a quote off greenflag for £118 for annual multi trips now this is way less than aa, rac and various other breakdown companys even ones that say they are the cheapest, the least amount I can get off the others is £165, going up to almost£300.
Does this seem right, I have tried bumping up the greenflag by adding all sorts of stuff I don't need but that is the figure that keeps comeing up.

I find most quite expensive for stand alone policies . So I stick with the £60+ add on to my comfort insurance.
But, I believe it has to be added at the time of taking out insurance but I could be wrong

As above. £65 for my one

My point is though why is greenflag quoting at least £50 cheaper than even supposedly cheap company's.

Nationwide Flex Account.
Breakdown with AA, multi trip travel insurance and mobile phone insurance.

No convinced this is the best deal and once back from our summer tour, I am going to do some digging.

Yes I took mine out at insurance renewal with Staveley Head it was on offer at £59.99 👌
I've got rid of Nationwide flex plus now so saving £13 a month

To find the answer to that question you would need to either find an independant comparison of the cover from each company,or do it yourself. The only way for you to do it would be to ask for the exact policy wordings from each company and study them in detail.

If,like me,you are not prepared to do that,I would be happy to go with Green Flag. But you should still read the T&C’s.

Try StartRescue, they are very competitive

Used to be good when they gave decent interest on the first £2500 in the account and the fee was 10 quid a month. The interest paid half the fee 😏

I also get this price up on the screen but one stipulation is no motorhomes over 10 years old (for the price quoted in their sample) 7.00m in length. I found it very difficult to get standalone cover this year with a 7.5m and 15 years old. I did get cover through Lifesure of Huntingdon at just over £110.00 for the Year with 90 days in Europe.

I would like to say ,I am quite happy with that quote but is it genuine or will they come up with some other stipulation when I have paid my money and must add I have had greenflag before but it was more than that.

This is eurobreakdown who supposedly say they are up to 50% cheaper than greenflag

I always go with safeguard insurance for motorhomes and full europe wide breakdown is standard on all their policies. Having used it a couple of times i cant fault them .

I was wondering about the fluctuation in prices as well I had a quote from RAC for over £200.
I ’ve had a quote of CBC for £94.
Maybe need to check the small print more

Really is strange mate, I was all set for going with eurobreakdown but then had a Google around and this greenflag one is way out of line, and thinking of ringing them to see what's going on.

I pay around 90, arranged through AIB insurance, full euro breakdown cover. I think it's an insurance based cover so they will just sub it out to local operator, which is what I guess greenflag will do.
And AA / RAC come to that

Anyone found European breakdown cover that they have had to use and they have repatriated their dog as well ?

I'm happy with Nationwide as it gives rolling foreign health cover and breakdown for any vehicle in which I'm a passenger, plus my own six vehicles at £13 a month and saves faffing about every year to renew cover for each of them individually.

Not got nationwide and don't need another bank account , I have emailed eurobreakdown about the difference and they have come up with a few differences and also offered me a 10% discount so I am torn now as to which to go for.

Comfort at £60 for me. I've used them a couple of times too, very good and English speakers on the phone. Quicker response in Spain/France than AA in the UK.

Yes but all these are tied in with your insurance, I have nfu insurance at a very good rate and no intention of going elsewhere but they don't do breakdown unfortunately.
Always had greenflag before but let it lapse last year, but never claimed so don't really know which are the best on call out.

I now have a tied to insurance cover but have not had to try it out yet. Previously I had Green flag and we had one major breakdown in Portugal, we were stuck there for 9 days whilst the Citroen main dealer ordered the right had drive specific parts, Green flag were amazing in our view and if I go on to have an insurance with no tied breakdown I will be straight back to Green flag.

That's something that not many people even consider when taking out EU Breakdown cover, its a question that maybe the insurer should ask, but they don't seem to, so everyone assumes their pets will be repatriated along with them, but that is not always the case.
I think the only one that does is the CMC Red Pennant, but that has to be arranged for each trip and the length of time you intend to be away for.
I followed a couples story of having a catastrophic breakdown is Southern Spain over Xmas, it was a nightmare for them to get home, they couldn't fly with the dog, couldn't use long distance trains or coaches, the had to use hire cars & pay a premium for cleaning any pet hair out, they had to change hire cars at the borders, use dog friendly hotels all the way.
The van followed them on a low loader some weeks later, they were with The AA paid a higher premium for best level of cover, but the £4K allowance to get them home was eventually exceeded, and they had to make up the difference out their own pockets. Overall The AA were very good & kept in touch all the way home. (y)
That was with only one dog, some funsters have 3!
Good luck if you have pets with you, check what's covered on repatriation with pets on board, they are not treated as kids on public transport, you may well be surprised!

John Barrett had some trouble with Nationwide & his dog, I believe, but it got sorted? Does that mean they are covered?

From NW last week telling me that there is no cover for pets. They paid up for the dogs on this occasion, , but only because I was wrongly advised that they would be repatriated.

'Pages 24 and 25 of your policy book lists what we cover under the emergency medical and travel costs section of the policy. There’s no cover under this section or any other section of the policy that covers your cost to bring the dogs back home. However, because we mis-advised you on 3 May 2022 and this had an impact on the options you had, I’m pleased our claims team have agreed to pay your cost. A payment of £600 has been raised and is waiting to be authorised.'
