Etiquette with neighbours

The people I'm confused by are those who smoke and also vape 🤣🤣 so they always stink
Lots of people just stink

Actually sometimes the smell of smoke masks the mushroomy "dead people" smell!

I just smell of Dove Soap Kuros and dog

The smell of a King Eddie (not the potato) reminds me of my dad at Christmas, when he would treat himself to a “good smoke”. I’ve never smoked apart from a couple of cigars in Scamps disco when I was 18 or so and thought it might be cool. It wasn’t 🤢.

I'm told King Edward Cigars smell the best.
Reminds me of the old Max Miller sketch. He appeared right of stage with a dummies leg and said “Hitlers left leg”. He then appeared left of stage with another leg and said “Hitlers right leg” He then appeared centre stage with two potatoes. The audience were in histerics He then said “You’re wrong! They’re King Edward’s “

smoking of any type in Spain has increased from 27% to 29%,by all accounts🤷‍♂️
Went to torremalinos a few weeks ago and was surprised but not amazed to see ash trays on all the tables outside bars and even some inside and smokers everywhere.

Still lots of bars in Dubai that allows smoking at the bar and anywhere that food is NOT served.
I've stopped going in a few because of it.

Was on a site in Croatia a week ago and nearly all the vans were German. An old couple next to us were up early every morning and the first thing she did was light up and you would get the waft of smoke as everybody has their windows open. He didn’t smoke.

We were out a lot of the time but she just sat there all day smoking one after another cigarette and coughing her lungs up. Quite sad really.

PS I didn’t say anything.

It's easy to forget how recently it was like that here. I think there was a lot of rubbish talked about freedom of choice and it being terrible for the pub trade when they brought the ban in but it's made life so much more pleasant.

I don't smoke, but I recognize that it's decimated pubs

It should have been the landlords decision, we are a non smoking pub or we are a smoking pub

Banning things is always the wrong legislation

Nah, my kids are safe at school from high power assault rifles and handguns.

By all accounts gov.es are proposing to ban smoking on outside terraces etc. As most bar owners say ,"we aint the police & won't be policing it"
All that will happen , is that people will sit next to any "terrace" & smoke which is, & will remain ,perfectly legal. Same as happened at any petrol station & bars without outside space when they stopped smoking inside them until they erected outside areas with non fixable walls.

People will just move there own outside area to where it is convenient.

Where I go most days for breakfast has ash trays for any table that wants one. Most of the carrefour staff that eat there about 70% smoke.

Also if Like in many places especially in town you are paying a 270€ licence fee for each table & four chairs outside you should be able to do what you wish
As Eddie said in the Uk you should be able to have establishments specifically for smokers with no smokers allowed.

Totally agree with that but there would be nobody there!

I don't see what the licence fee for an outdoor table affects what you're allowed to do with it after all business premises have business rates but all the normal laws apply. I think there are a few of the pro smokers rearguard who are still fighting a losing battle it's just been accepted by most and seen as a good measure

Rushing to get out . It should have read "establishments specifically for smokers with non smokers not allowed"

Because you cannot afford 100 tables when the customers who smoke are not using .
Not a question of a rearguard action it should be non discriminatory.

I remember in hospital years ago being asked not to light up a cigar at 6am as it was making some "feel queasy". :giggle:Only to willing to wait until 8am:giggler:
I was in I.C.U In France this year and one of the nurses was vaping (twice)

Is it discrimination when based on people doing something that others find unpleasant. There ought to be a provision for a non smoking and smoking area separated by a minimum gap in establishments over a certain number of covers outdoors with vapers restricted to the smoking section some of the stronger ones are pretty unpleasant too. Of course if you did ban non smokers from the smoking areas in families where there is one smoker they would presumably have to sit separately from the rest of the family probably good for the kids health

I walked into toilet block earlier and thought some selfish B has stunk this area out , I would rather they lit up outside their van than a confined area. Turn your van the other way if it bothers you that much.

There are 2 types of doggy smell. The wet dog type and just a smelly warm dog type.
Oh mine produce far more than 2 smells
