It is also quite simple to get to the P&R near the showground by bus (from outside the rally field) and tram. Last year there were complimentary buses shuttling from the P&R to the showground but it is within walking distance (I have walked it a few times when there have been shows there).

Glad to see OIY happening already :)

Sounds like it could be better to get a bus and tram than drive to the show. The least amount of walking is best for me as it’s going to be a long day and my feet will suffer I’m sure. We can all look at it on the Thursday and Friday before, over a tea.

Are planning to attend the big show. I am quite willing to drive but I believe that we would be better getting the bus and tram. I am sure lots of other club members are thinking of going so we can all get together before the Saturday and plan our trip over tea. It is cheaper to get a ticket over the internet before hand so I will do that for me instead of paying on the gate. You all need to think about this idea yourself. If there are other places to go after the show then it could be better to drive. We can work it all out I’m sure.

It's an hour and 19 minutes by bus and tram from the rally field to the P&R and then a 15 minute walk (flat) from the P&R to the show ground. :)

A bus / tram day ticket is £4 (unless you have a Scottish issued bus pass and even then there is a charge for the tram unless your pass was issued by Edinburgh City Council) and is valid on all Lothian buses and the tram except for the airport zone (which starts/ends at Ingliston P&R). A single tram ticket is £1.70 and a single bus ticket £1.70 so the all day ticket is a no brainer. If there is no courtesy bus at the P&R for the show then there will be taxis even if you have to phone for one - they often wait at the P&R for a place at the airport taxi rank.

There is likely to be heavy traffic near the showground so if you are able I would strongly suggest using public transport. I'm not sure what the disabled parking is like or if there is a charge. I don't drive much in Edinburgh as the buses are so good.

Just looked on map and Costco is only 5 miles from camp site anyone who would like to go I have a card. They also have a petrol station and it is always the best price around. Don’t mind going with a few who would like to fill up or shop.

Shopping that’s the last thing I was thinking.

But a very nice offer :)

If anyone is really wanting to shop then there is an M&S outlet at Meadowhall and most of the stuff is 50% or less than in the Princes Street store. Clothes and homewares only, no food, but there is also a Sainsbury, B&M and Poundland in the same shopping area.
