This is an interesting job requirement from Ryan Air, you will see that in order to apply for a job you need a EU passport, so how many more companies does this mean you wont be able to apply for a job?

Before you start, there are a few things we need from you. You must have a good level of English, both written and spoken, an EU passport and good computer skills. If you have all of this, as well as the energy and drive to throw yourself into your job with enthusiasm, then check out our current vacancies and follow the instructions to apply. We hope to see you ‘on board’ soon!

Jim decided to stop the thread because it drifted into Brexit.

I wanted to post a reply on the Aviation aspects as I know them but the thread was already closed.

Here is my response.

Ryanair have 90 crew bases, mostly in the EU. They open and close crew bases with alacrity according to demand and post crews to other bases. So it is part of the Business Plan to have flexibility to move crews.

I stopped flying as a Pilot because I did not like being 'posted' by airline managements between bases, especially BA who lied about postings.

I've just applied.....LOL?‍?

Keeps the vacancies open for any irish applicants.
Hi.
I noticed some years ago, that a Welsh Council office near Portmadog advertised jobs in the Welsh language. Cannot fault it really,a double incentive to keep local people from leaving the area and outsiders moving in..... Cardigan Bay... MMmmmmm . :hi5:

It might just be one of those things they haven't got around to changing yet but if it's harder to employ UK citizens and theres no shortage of applicants why not. They are of course an Irish (EU) company it's no different to what's proposed for people from other EU countries wanting to work here.

Not often you see a white person working in a Chinese or Indian restaurant lol

I went to a Chinese restaurant in Carmarthen many years ago and was greeted by an obvious non-Chinese lady who enquired:-

"Whaddya like wack" in her very Liverpudlian accent. :giggle:

Bit of a non-story.

When asked to comment, a Ryanair spokesperson said: "Currently, we require UK cabin crew applicants to have the unrestricted right to live and work in the EU.

"However, we will revise and update this requirement before the transition period ends on 31 December 2020."

Does it really matter ?? I was served a Welsh rarebit by a Lancastrian the other day. Biggest shock was they could actually add up the bill correctly

Our chinese seem to be run by Chinese, the phone answered by someone who barely speaks English but delivered by the English. I couldn't care less as long as they don't make it too greasy.

Clearly a consequence of us leaving the EU.

UK folk will need a work visa for the EU country they work in.
no freedom of movement any longer.

mind you, who would wish to work for Ryanaer, more fun working in the Chinese takeaway.and they don’t charge extra for the food container :giggle::giggle:

At least in the Chinese I bet you get some food free I heard Ryanair pilots even have to pay for a cup of tea!!!

When I first lived in London I went into the local Chinese takeaway and the oriental lady asked what I would like in cockney accent, I was very taken aback. After a number of visits she asked where is Wales I was from. Her sister lived not far away from my home town and yes she had fed me also . The lady asked me would I drop a parcel off to her sister for her the next time I went home. I of course agreed (never crossed my mind that it may not the birthday present for her niece she said it was but contraband) The point of the story it was the first time that I realised that the lady in Wales spoke with a Welsh accent, two sisters living in the UK one learnt English in Wales the other in London both with different regional accents. Both could cook(y)
