Hi Everyone
I have been working on a solution to overcome the problem of water accumulating around the base of the windscreen on X250 Fiat Ducato’s. I’m preparing a home made 3D printed kit of drainage pipe fittings complete with suitable hosing. All you will need to fit it all are drills and silicone sealant. Final testing should be finished in about a week. If anyone is interested in my solution, please let me know.

This is the additional drain in front of the passenger. 8mm hole with 12mm hose. Will send more pictures as I test the kit.

Are these in addition to or replacing the existing drains.
Either way I would think some kind of domed mesh above the drain to prevent crud from blocking them.
The kit makes the two existing small holes on either side much larger. Plus an additional drain on the N.S. I may add a water deflector on the side that swamps the wiper spindle.

Excellent quality Idea, something Fiat should have done in the first place.

Me too, Paul, please....... I have already had a go at my scuttle with fairly good results. I put a couple of pieces of loose plastic dampcourse over the injectors deflecting water from the electrics when the bus is parked up. I had to invest in a new electronic control box after water made its way in and totaly knackered it. I also put in a new drain taking water away via the heater air inlet.
I hope the testing goes well. Al

Look forward to see finished design, if they are as good quality as the levelling gimble I will take a set.

I’m working on bonnet vent covers as well which would have helped. The vent covers won’t be totally water tight, but will dramatically reduce water ingress.

Hello
I am interested in this idea but my van is a fiat Ducato 1.9td 200/2001 model, manual RHD.
I notice that when looking at it facing the windscreen at the front, water accumulates in the left hand side channel (drivers side) and sits there but to the right hand side, (passenger side) , water runs away but I think drains onto the top of the clutch/gearbox cover, but does then run off, but not entirely.
Would your type of modification be suitable for my age and type of vehicle please?
Thanks
Iain

Quite possibly will fit. Look closely at my pictures as I post them and judge for yourself.

Update. This is the drain on the passengers side. Comes with a template to get the hole in exactly the right position. Drop the drain into place with black silicone behind it and tighten the nut from behind by hand. Slide the hose on which is included with the kit.
Working on the final one by the wiper spindle. This is the difficult one as there is much space. 👍

Yes Please we've got a peugeot but its the same problem, have cobbled something together at the moment out of a party popper (don't ask)
between that and a cover when it rains we're managing to stop the ingress of water. (y)

Working on the final drain by the wiper spindle at the moment. It’s proving tricky. I want to make it easy to fit, not a nightmare. After 40 years of being an auto mechanic and cursing stupid design, I want to make this easy, not a fight.

Thanks Andy.

On subject of cleaning out said drain holes try one of these, MX5 owners all over the planet swear by them for cleaning out their soft top drain holes.....

The final drain on the RH side next to the wiper spindle is finally sorted. The drain hole on this one is slightly smaller at 6mm as apposed to 8mm in the other drains. This is due to the limited space around the wiper spindle. I have added a deflector gutter to try and reduce water flow to compensate if people don’t mind the little gutter being visible.

This will be the final kit complete with hoses.
The items you will need to fit it all is as follows
4mm, 12mm, 15mm. drills
6mm Allen Key
Black Sikaflex/Silicone.
Items that need removing are the panels above the headlights. Headlight removal is optional, but makes the job much easier if they are out. Should be around £25 including p&p. Will you guys let me know if you would use the gutter as it’s not really needed, just thought it might be good idea. 👍. Should have it in the classifieds in a day or so.

Cheers Paul and Chrissy.

Paul......only do them in one colour ? More choice would have been nice....stripes as well. Al

i don’t see the gutter being necessary.
