I'm about to change the spin off can style fuel filter for the first time on my 2002 Ducato. Noticed the new one has a plastic clip holding the smaller of the two rubber seals in place. Do i leave the plastic clip in place when i screw it on?

Yes leave it and fill filter before fitting to help prime the system.

Sorry, can't remember
Some time since I did mine, can you add a photo to jog my memory, or others more familiar will be along soon I'm sure.

I’ve ordered fuel filter from Eurocarparts using their number plate search for my 2001 Fiat based Hymer twice and got filter with only one seal.

Thats what i did and got a crosland filter with the two seals.

Turns out it was the wrong filter. The sensor won't fit at bottom, new filter hole too small. Got a new one on order for tomorrow from local motor factors, should have done that in first place. I've put old filter back on for the moment and filled it with fuel to prime it. She tried to start but eventually became dead on the key. Im hoping with a bit of battery charging she'll fire up later. Anyone got any others ideas on what i may have done wrong?

It was the battery, dropped to 12.3v, a couple of hours charge and she fired up first time. Have to do it all again tomorrow though with the correct filter. It wasn't a waste of time as i've also changed the oil and oil and air filters and made a start on fixing the air filter housing on which the bottom mounting rubbers have perished. Hopefully someone has found my ramblings of some interest 😁.

The saga continues! Got a second Crosland filter, this time with only one rubber seal, and that to has a hole too small for the sensor. Luckily i can still read some of the details of the old one so I'll see if I can order that from somewhere. If it helps any one, my ducato is an 2002 2.8 jtd. The Croslands that don't fit are part numbers F30381 (two seals) and F30198 (one seal). The old one is a FRAM PS??098EWS. For the moment the old one should be ok, there was very little dirt in the fuel I took out of it anyway.

Coastal Motorhomes have always sourced right parts for me. Don't know if they do filters

You could use the first one and just leave the sensor out, it only indicates when these water in there, I had an issue with my van not starting and it got took to a garage ( it was a collapsed filter) and the didn’t refit the sensor, not had a problem for 5 years.
I replaced my perished mounts with something like this.
