Is it an adder?

Interesting find in the garden but I wouldn't call it beautiful.

I read this an hour ago and fainted.....

Just come round. Please tell me it's gone off to someone else's garden now. :(

Yes it's gone Joy, they will be back though they love basking in the hot sun.

Next door had one in the house one year, I thought there was a burglar the way his wife shrieked and flew in the garden and she was used to them.

We always shut the door after us up here, imagine a snake in your living room.

Look away movan

When as a child I found one in our garden my Dad killed it with a spade:(

Something we live with round here, leave them alone and they will avoid you if they can. You usually only spot them when out basking in the sunshine

Is that the one that there is no anti venom for?

I had exactly the same experience as Chris, with exactly the same finale.

Workmate used to spend his weekends crawling in hedge bottoms and scrubland looking for wildlife.
He put his jacket on a rock while having drink and a rest.
Picked up his jacket and got bitten on the hand by an Adder.
Earned him a couple of days off work.

our Jack Russel cross was a nosy little devil
We were walking the two of them (twins same litter)

she thundered off and was prancing around in the distance
then stopped moved away then back to the same spot
then run back to us I had seen something move
land we thought it was an adder by the time we got to here
she was immobile we took her straight to the vets
her neck had puffed up like she had a balloon Round her neck
the vets got an antidote from the human hospital
she was kept in three days
and when we got her home we had to keep checking her neck didn’t
get necrotic she bounced back but it took a while

Looked so comfy soaking up the sun on the front door step we just used the back door instead!
