Hi. We have a 2019 burstner 728 TD harmony line Motorhome. I am unsure whether our fridge has a problem. When we are on hook up all fine. When on gas all fine, when driving all fine. However when stationery stopped no hook up or gas the 12v battery symbol if not driving the fridge beeps for approx 20 Seconds and the red warning triangle is on. If I start the engine it stops. Stop the engine it starts beeping again. It is as if it won’t switch properly into the leisure battery. It does not have an auto mode. Is this a fault or normal operation. Any assistance will be much appreciated. The beeping repeats every 5 mins approx

You wouldn't want the fridge running off you leisure batteries,quick way to flatten them! some one may have removed the relevant fuse to stop this happening much better to put it onto gas when you stop even if you have do it manually.

Sounds normal to me, you have to switch it manually to gas in the above circumstances

A 3-way fridge like this is quite inefficient compared to compressor fridges that work on electrical only (12V or 240V). The 12V element usually takes 10 to 15 amps, and that will flatten a 100 amp-hour (Ah) leisure battery overnight. It's usual to run a 3-way fridge on hookup if available, gas when not, and 12V only while the engine is running.

Having said that, you can manually switch the fridge to 12V in special circumstances, such as the Tunnel or ferry when gas must be turned off.

Another thing worth noting is that in automatic mode, if the fridge is running on 12V when the engine is running, there is a delay of about 15 or 20 minutes after the engine stops before the gas comes on automatically. This is a safety feature, to avoid firing up the fridge on gas when you stop for fuel.

It's normal ,when you stop on 12 v it needs switching to has or ehu as it's not an auto fridge. To run off 12 v you also need an AES type fridge and plenty of backup battery power or solar.

We have a Harmony. What you describe is fine. It will not run on the leisure battery. The alarm is to say the energy source has failed. In your case, the engine supply.

Thank you everyone so much for your replies. I had a hunch it was working as designed , just wanted to check. Interesting to understand the way it switches to gas and the period of time. I have actually observed that. Many thanks again

doesnt switch to gas for roughly 15 minutes to stop0 you ingniting fumes if you stop for petrol
