Getting better month by month.
What is the base vehicle? Ducato have a software fix which switches the dashboard lights on with ignition. Not a great fix but helps a little.

Weve had the fix to keep the dashboard lights on but little difference. We use either the satnav, which has a speed readout on it, or a phone app.

many many years! since I was a kid
the fiat so called fix is useless. switching on the instrument lights in bright daylight cant compete with ambient light. you can fit extra LEDs to light up the binnacle. But the best solution I have found is use the readout on your satnav or fit a speedometer you can see that plugs into the OBD 2 port

Glasses!

Not an inane comment, as last week I received my first pair of driving glasses. I've had trouble seeing the speedo and satnav clearly for the last couple of years although my distance sight is excellent, and went and had an eye test. My eyes have changed little in the last 10 years but the optician suggested a slight correction to just one eye for driving. What a difference! Now I can see the speedo clearly whatever the light.

Just fit a Head Up Display .. HUD .. Loads on Amazon or EBay. I fitted one a few years ago to our Swift. Wired it in so when you switched the ignition on and the GPS had worked out where it was the speed popped up on the screen. Loads to choose from. The factory MOD of switching the dash lights on does not work that well especially if you wear sunglasses as the dash is very dark.
