How did we get to hear about the mystery man? If the young lady posted it on FB why all the concentration on mountain searches, surely the man would have been the first line of investigation.

Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
Esther made a long posting on their FB pages on the 19th November about reaching the top but in terrible weather and getting a lift to either a hostel or her van. But that seems to be well before her last chat with Dan so maybe that is not the same driver. Or perhaps they want to speak to that person to see if she said anything that would be of help in finding her now.

I think it was said they would be cutting down on news bulletins as it has now become a police investigation into other things that could have happened :(

This is an automatic translation

The Olympic skier Martí Vigo del Arco , and a friend with whom the Safeguard ascended on Sunday 22, could be the last people who saw Esther, 37 years old. “It would be around three in the afternoon and we were already going down, she was going up, heavily loaded, with a very large backpack. We stopped and he asked if we had a piece of fruit or something fresh, but we had nothing left. She kept going up, the temperature was good and it was sunny. There was very little snow on the top ”, Vigo del Arco details by phone.

The athlete calculates that he would have around an hour and 20 minutes to crown the Safeguard and points out that at that time in the afternoon all the people were descending, that he did not see anyone else uphill.

The Mystery Hiker seems to be a good photographer.

2 page article in today's Daily Mail. That's not the online version.

Haven't read it yet. Probably just a lot of speculation.

I assume it is possible to know where her last FB post was sent from and who sent it.

It's so upsetting isn't it. Just seeing the photographer's arm reflected in Esther's glasses and wondering WHO ARE YOU?
Hope she realises people have not stopped searching.
It’s her arms, it’s a selfie.

Six of us ridge walking in this area roped together in 1978, one slipped, we all came off. Never forgot it, some hospitalised. Beautiful area but as challenging as parts of the alps. Solo mountaineering carries a lot of risks. But you can’t live in cotton wool....hope the team keep searching.

but I canna find any mention of the van being found
In the Sunday Mirror article above it says that the police have cleared Dan to collect the van as they have found no clues in it.
