What's concerning is they haven't even found the van - could it be somewhere else, where they're not looking... ?

My first thought too, although I havn't kept up with all thr details as it too upsetting to wonder what is going on.

Where did the last phone contact come from? Surely she would have contacted her partner within 24 hours of leaving the van? Was that area was she in then able to be accessed by a vehicle? I'm surprised with all the technology around, SOMETHING isn't showing up. :(

GROWING CONCERN'
A spokesman for emergency services in Bagnères-de-Luchon said: "The search intensified on Friday.

"All available resources are being used in the research, but there is growing concern for her safety."

The Spanish civil guard's GREIM unit is also involved in the search.

Police found her car where she had parked in Benasque, on the Spanish side of the border.

A spokesman said: “Searches began on November 26, involving both GREIM specialists together with Huesca’s aerial unit in coordination with a Gendarmerie mountain rescue team in Bagneres de Luchon the other side of the border and another helicopter belonging to that unit.

Huesca Radio also reports her vehicle was found in Benasque

The appropriate checks were made and his vehicle parked in Benasque was located, so it has been searched from day 26, both by specialists from the GREIM of Benasque together with the Unidiad Aeérea de Huesca, in coordination with teams from the Gendarmerie of the Bagnères de Luchon and another helicopter from that body, without the search having yielded results for the moment.

Those reports suggest she was in a car not their motorhome, I suppose it could just mean camping car, but not good if she was actually in a car.:(

And if she WAS in the van as originally thought, how did the car get there? I feel sick inside. :( she is so young. Keep strong little love.

Her email to me on the 12th Nov said she was in the motorhome, no mention of a car, although it is possible she has a car too but didn't mention it. I cannot imagine how she would move a car and a motorhome if travelling alone. She also said that the dogs were not with her and how much she missed them.

I am not a close friend of either Dan or Esther, we were fellow fulltimers that randomly met while touring around Spain. We shared a common bond of fulltiming in a motor home, a love of cycling and dogs. We spent a few nights chatting and socialising and then kept in touch by a once in a blue moon email.

I hope that as they know where she started from and where she intended to spend the night or nights, the search and rescue have a good idea where to look.

No further news they even had mountaineer Alan Hinks on saying if she had found shelter up there it is possible to survive although every day not found looks grim.

She was an extremely fit, healthy lady which bodes well

I don't think there was any car. It just looks as though it was a sloppy translation by The Sun. The Spanish version, as posted above says 'vehicle.'

She sounds really savvy about walking... So wonder why, if she was able, she didn't open out the yellow tent so that helicopters would see it? It isn't looking good and I just keeping hoping for good news. :(

She WOULD have laid out the yellow tent and made other SOS signs, IF she had been able, but not if she has fallen badly.
They have done a lot of mountain trekking, but not at 9,000 feet !!
Cold can catch out even the experienced.
I haven’t spoken to Dan since Sunday as I think he will be on a “hair trigger” every time
his phone rings.
There will time for that. Glad the family are giving love and support.
Lots of love to him. X
Mitch.

Was she on her own or had a planned route? Or did she plan not to return directly to her vehicle. There doesn't seem to be much real information.

I agree. I guess they can' t tell us everything. Why did they allow her boyfriend to search in a different direction... He could have got into difficulties :(.

I keep thinking of the people who were lost on Everest and then suddenly appeared... injured but alive. . Hoping, hoping she is ok.
