I wonder what theyre classing as the reason for opening I would have thought it was non essential retail so phase 2 June 1st at the earliest?

Think of a motorhome as a second home and the dealer as the agent. You can now view them with a clear conscience.

Viewing by appointment only, by the looks of things...

So should be safe....

No different from crawling round a garden centre...

It`s a start.. (y)

Good news Larry ... we were due in there on Tuesday for service etc but obviously cancelled ... I spoke to John on Monday and he says they will shortly be in touch with any one that had to be cancelled and will offer new dates. Apparently all the manufacturers are extending warranty periods and times for annual damp tests.

I hope they sanitize each vehicle after Jo Public has been all over them.

I was watching the reporting of the garden centres opening on the TV yesterday and as is norma,l punters were picking up pot plants spinning them around to have a look at them, then putting them down and picking up the next and so on, which looked to me like a good way to spread the virus.

Just waiting for an email to say Don Amotts are open and I can collect my new van.
Are you going to be "sneaky" and stay in their field for a couple of days? Free EHU as well!(y)

Use the secret engine isolater and claim the AA are on the way. That would be wrong and couldnt possibly suggest it

Tynevalley Motorhomes plant to open 1st of June if allowed to.

Brian I had my service damp check etc done just in time on 20th Jan but will be apprehensive on first trip out:RollEyes:

Thats was the original plan but obviously thats nows changed, our plan now if we get the call to collect would be the following.

See if we could do a video H/O a few days before collection
Drive down to their place to collect, Lorraine wouldn't leave the car.
I would have a quick look round to make sure everything is there and in working order.
Wipe down steering wheel and gearstick.
Drive van home and leave in the drive for 3 or 4 days before anyone enters, this would allow time for any virus to die off.

Hopefully doing this the only contact I would have would be at the fuel station as the last thing I'd want to do is bring the virus into Dumfries as we have relatively low cases here.

Assuming you'll be using the A50 and M6 we've used the Tesco filling station at Meir - Lysander Rd, Meir, Stoke-On-Trent, ST3 7WB - as it's just off (a couple of hundred yards) the A50 about 25 miles from Don Amott and is easy in \ out with the motorhome. It's also got pay at the pump so you won't have to go into the shop. Prices were comparable to others around (cheaper than most). Entry into it is off the grey road on the map below.
It's normally 24 hours but best check as they'll probably be on reduced hours.
Having said that I must admit to being surprised that an ex-Weegie didn't negotiate in a full tank of fuel!;)
Guess it'll be about 4-4.5 hours door to door for you based on 50-55mph as you won't want to be hiking along in the new van.
Safe travels.(y)

ps from memory, there's a few speed cameras on the road around Stoke under \ close to flyovers.

I will be expecting a full tank from the dealer   however it will be touch and go if we can do the round trip on one tank of fuel in the car so thats why I need to stop for fuel.

Gellyneck you didn't think I'd pay for fuel did you :rofl:
