I got lots of texts from Vodafone saying they would now be charging me £3 per GB as I had been overseas for more than 2 months. Stopped using it for last few weeks as 60GB would have cost me £180 for the month plus my £20 charge. Now back in the UK for a bit so never got to find out if they actually would have taken the money. Not worth the risk though....maybe better to go with Superdrug

That answers my query then, they do apply the 2 month restriction, I can't cancel my contract as it was a cashback deal but I will stop using it as soon as I get the notification. I will lose a bit of cash but I have other sources of data, I will try and get a Superdrug sim and get it activated in the UK and posted out to me.

I have an O2 unlimited data contract (about £33 pm) and in UK use between 300 & 400 Gb per month. TV, Laptop & Phone. Whilst in Ireland I used a local unlimited data sim. So for the last few years no problem except in Highlands of jockland, there was no tv signal, no radio signal, no phone signal no news papers. Used site for Tv signal 7 channels. BUT they did have spectacular scenery, food & people. Don't mention fuel cost !!!

I would look for a 30 day rolling contract so that you can up to a lot of data when going away but not be permanently tied to it. I'm with I'd mobile they do quite a few 30 day plans.

Smarty do similar relatively cheap packages e.g can sign up for 30 days unlimited- so no worries with download - then cancel or go to cheaper limited downloads. Dunno if the unlimited package has any restrictions when abroad, I doubt it but their web site is usually pretty unambiguous.

I download stuff from Netflix and Amazon to an old phone, I can do this on WiFi and play it back through my TV. Saves on data

Sounds like we're talking about casting or screen mirror features.
Mostly a tablet or smart phone feature than a Nokia 3110 or landline phone feature.

What sort of phone do you have? Maybe someone is already using that same type to watch Media.

I have 2 smartphones using Android, it is possible to get an app to cast recorded content to a smart TV, if you have an Android TV it is also possible to cast live TV via chromecast.

I think that it is also possible to download a VPN to an Android TV in order to watch UK TV in Europe via a local network wifi.

I will try that, I think my 2 months will run out on the 4th April. I have had the sim since last August but not used it as I had another Vodafone contract sim which I cancelled free of charge when the new restrictions were announced. They wouldn't let me do that with this one as it was a cashback deal through fonehouse.

The best I can do for you, is to direct to to information available, pending your actual system. The LNB is the device which brings the signal in to the satellite receiver, with the help of the dish.

Programming an Oyster System.

Advice I gratefully received from Satandpcguy very recently, was that if the frequency my set up uses to tune into Astra 1 is turned off for some reason, I can just choose another frequency which is still live.

There are Satellite specialists on FUN, who will be able to guide you better than I can. Good luck with it.
Anthony OysterTech is another known to give excellent advice.

Back on topic. Re not being able to use a VPN on your TV, if you install an Amazon Firestick 4K, this enables you to use your TV as a Smart TV, and you can download a VPN to the Firestick, which you connect to first, eg, London, Manchester, Liverpool, etc, before connecting to any of the UK Catchup Channels, which also provide Live TV viewing.

If using a UK sim card to bring in your internet on your MiFi or phone, a VPN isn't required for iPlayers.

The cable I have charges the phone at the same time, the phone uses a fair bit of power and would run the battery down fast, also it won't work with every phone
