hi - we are booked on an early morning crossing (08.45) Cherbourg to Poole. Anybody know if you can sleep in the lanes at Cherbourg port ready for boarding in the morning?

Thanks

Chris

Not in the lanes but just before you go into the lanes take the last exit off the roundabout and there is a parking area there. Opposite the Esso garage.

Not in the lanes but as you go in on your right you will see a big shed, along from the toilet block and coffee shop. You can park there overnight. We usually park there on our way back from our winter trip after getting off the ferry. (y)

Theirs an aire about 3 mins up the road which is free & safe nice walk into town over the bridge about 10 mins stroll cheers Rod

I usually return from cherbourg and park at an aire at siouville-hague, not far from the port and near the beach.
May be of interest to you.

We were there a few days ago and the new aire just before town was full as was the parking further down the same road.
Not sure if they were all waiting to catch the same ferry as us.
The parking area you can see to the right of the main carpark on the photo @big map posted would be ideal for an overnight.

We have slept in the boarding lanes a few times ....... the trick is as long as you arrive after the last ferry of the day and your ferry is the first one the next day. It's a lovely 'warm glow' being first in the que in the morning (y)

Sorry for this post, I was talking about parking at Poole.
