Just had an email letting me know that charges on their sites will be increased in 2019. I can understand a small increase however I am not at all sure the reasons given are accurate.

“The largest contributing rises in costs are energy and utility costs, for example electricity costs have risen by over 25%. The National Living Wage has also increased”

My electricity costs have not gone up by 25% and I doubt anyone else’s have. Interestingly they don’t say by how much prices will increase. Either in the email or as far as I can see on the website.

I feel it’s the rhubarb treatment combined with the Tesco attitude i.e. £1.50 each or two or only £3.95

No doubt others will have, or will shortly have the same email

It would be interesting to see by how much they have increased. Says in email

Don’t worry if you see an updated price in ‘My Profile’ - for any bookings made prior to 5 Dec 2018, you will pay the original price quoted upon arrival at site.

It would be interesting to compare new prices with old if anyone holds a booking at original price. We don’t so I cannot do a check.

i just got that too a small increase to the f all i give them each year wont bother me much

I am just wondering how much more CMC members can be pushed regarding price increases before they walk? Some sites already have a 2 night minimum stay, but why dont they offer a discount for longer stays of say 7 nights plus?
The thought of paying £30 p/night of £210 per week is enough to scare me off already, when I know I can get a better deal from an independent site with facilities.
Les
PS: TinaL is getting fed up with me making her hide in the van wardrobe for any stays on CMC sites, despite the fact that I give her her meals & put a saucer of milk out for her:D

I cannot remember the last time I stayed on a club site, we are only members for the CL network... but I can’t remember being asked for my membership number when staying on a CL

Maybe time for a re-think

Haven't had the email yet ...so

I guess mine hasn't increased :ROFLMAO:

in any case.. they provide excellent sites with great facilities and run professionally

and with over 2000 CLs, and many other member benefits, IMV excellent value for money (y)

let the nay sayers and FLTs park elsewhere .. no one forces you to join..

there are plenty of council carparks and lay-bys (y)

210 quid a week ?? 840 a month?

Think of the lovely big house you could buy for that mortgage

We do

But every opportunity you get you have a pop at them so now it's the flt's turn to laugh at all you cpt's

That's

campsite paying tossers

Just for clarification

I started this thread for information really because I think one of the reasons given for the increase, the claim of 25% increase in electricity is exagerated and I doubt that other utility prices have gone up much either. I don't object to an increase in site fees because of the living wage increase but I would think the Club could have absorbed that as it is quite small.

Please don't make this yet another diatribe about FLT's, or the benefits or otherwise of sites. That isn't what the thread is about, its isn't necessary and it certainly isn't fun.:)

Just book somewhere NOW for next year and then cancel it next month

If I look at next years prices already listed, they are higher than what i paid at the same sites i used this year. So it sounds liike an increase on what has already been increased. Nearly never renewed my membership this year, don't think i will next.

I clearly remember getting the CMC magazines with "SITE PRICES FROZEN"for 2018, and yet thinking thats cos they will probably rocket next year, and sad to say I was probably right:(
Stayed on our first CMC site this year in Cromer, after the Lincoln Rally, even with over 60 discount (just qualified:)) we paid £46 for two nights. We enjoyed watching the shower room procession starting at 7.15AM, while we used our own facilities, the clubhouse food was pretty average with high prices for chips with everything.
Beer was OK, but nothing going on in the large clubhouse over the weekend, but noted that they are booked solid for Xmas by Sept.
I agree that maybe a CL would be better suited to us in the future, being self sufficient, but I wanted to experience this Peg thing first hand, and see if everything I had read about CMC sites was true or not. I can confirm that the facilities are very good, its just a question of whether you are prepared to pay their now increased fees or not.
The M6 Toll discount finishes this December I think, and you can get a better chunnel discount if you go direct, and you dont have to buy "camping cheques" either to get it.
Membership renewal comes up soon, we will probably hang our spurs up, after we have purchased The ACSI card and book for 2019:)

you won't be able to book much next year till the booking opens after the 5th December so the new prices will be levied. Cl's for us or maybe walk after 28 years:(

You can book a year in advance now (y)

I have recieved the email, now I will trawl across their website, making bookings that i may or may not use. I have already made some bookings for next year's and enjoy the planning, but Im sure it will encourage some to block book sites with no intention to use.

Yes as stated, they stopped that daft system, so you can about 12 months in advance, hence there chstsworth and edinburgh sites are full for flower show and fringe festivals already

the claim of 25% increase in electricity is exagerated

fact or just your opinion, do you have evidence for this claim ?

The CMC will be paying commercial rate for electricity and other services..

Also, Legislation overseen by OFGEM means that a site owner shouldn't profit from the re-selling of electricity.

are you suggesting they are breaking the law ?

I’ve had my email there’s a load of sites that have no price increases. These are sites that are not full on a regular basis example Blackpool only full wen the lights are on !!

wasn't an attack on anyone.. simply saying if you don't like the club, leave it.. camp elsewhere

when a club I have been a member of for many years is attacked I reserve the right to defend it ..

and it certainly sounds like you were moaning about it..

Just had a look at York for a short break after the new year 2/3 Jan £68.80 for two nights plus only having stayed one weekend 2 nights on a club site all year
£52 membership for 4 nights so I need to add £26 to my two night break making it £94.80 for two nights
I joined the club thinking of all the nice sites and places to visit to find they are nearly all fully booked and never seem able to book a sites when I want.
I for one will not be renewing my membership next year.
