With an "On Board LPG Tank"........... is there a way to couple up a free standing gas bottle..?

Just reading about all the places that are running out of gas and how hard it is to get in some area`s, got me thinking..

Can it be done and how easy to do..??

Hi,Mo yes it can be done via the filler point with a local fitting hose I have used it in Spain .I have a Spanish bottle and have used it when main tank was empty no problem.

I don't know if it's the same now, when I did my training for LPG with calor over 30 years ago, we were shown how to connect a cylinder to a domestic tank for emergency supply if the bulk tank had run out

If it has a BBQ point gas can be fed in through that
Can it? The bbq point is on the low pressure side. You meant to back feed on the high pressure side before the regulator. Like Mike mentioned, via fill up point with a hose. Gas it sells this hoses for about 20 quid.

You just need to put a regulator on the bottle, then connect it to the bbq point 👍

If filling from bottle into filling point would the bottle empty or equalise, 50% in bottle 50% in van ?

On ours we can just take the hose off the right hand bottle with the easy release screw fitting and connect to a bottle

tge issue would be how to transport that bottle and it would need to be outside the locker.

But we could have a single refillable and a space for a Calor bottle to have best of both options . Obviously removing the trolling pipe work for bottle 2 👍

Technically only one correct way to connect an external gas supply to an lav .
Should have a first stage regulator as described in the standards, freestanding cylinders with high pressure connection is an accident waiting to happen ⚠️

The link provided by Robert Clark fits to the filler inlet Mo so will do tanks and bottles… it’s made for the job and is safe and will be the easiest to do…👍🏼
Not so safe when a child playing knocks the cylinder over or it’s hit by a mowing machine, not to mention the owners forgetting it’s connected and driving away ⚠️
High pressure external connection is actually not a
good plan at all .

As I type, the van is hooked up to an external tank via the fill point. Easy enough to do, and it does not equalise to the cylinders in the van. The only issue is transporting a loose gas cylinder. Oh and the stupidly expensive calor prices

Let’s just ban gas barbecues then…🤷🏼

Also what about if a helicopter lands and the down draught blows it over, how many what ifs do you do ?

The safest way has already been suggested - use a BBQ point with a regulator on the bottle. This is what we did when we had a problem filling our tank in Spain. It was recommended to us by the company which installed the tank when I contacted them by phone. Fortunately gus-lopez wasn't far away and he very kindly lent us a bottle and regulator. :) If you don't have a BBQ point they are not difficult or expensive to fit.

I think this method is easier than using a system which involves the gas at full bottle pressure though that is another option. :)

I think that sign is just to stop anyone filling it with high pressure gas. Coupling a bottle with a regulator to it is safe according to the suppliers of our system. :)
Connecting an external bottle directly to the filler point is a more elegant solution I believe as it allows you to use the bbq point at the same time

Yup.
I have underslung LPG gas tank and a spare bottle in the locker, just in case. If you have Duo control shouldn't be a problem.
