Cheers

Great site. One thing I like about it is that there is a selection of bars, fish and chip shop and Indian over the road (y) so handy if you don't want to go all the way into the town . It's a little way out but walkable if your up to it but the bus stops almost outside. Site has most facilities. Not stopped there for a few years but when we had our place in Benidorm we visited funsters on site many times.
Villasol is always our favourite but no good if you have a dog.

I stayed there Xmas and New Year and again in April ,it is ok for the location a bus stop to Benidorm and the coastal towns for 150 Euro,as said plenty of bars adjacent and I did get food poisoning at the only Spanish restaurant across the road ! .
Iceland and good show bars about 5 minute walk .
The site is now looking tired and wash blocks really need updating but it's full of residents so not catering for the passing tourists. You are allowed dogs.
Only reason I would stay agin is location.

The Indian is called Tandoori nights now (was The Curry Mile) don't know if it's changed owners. Was very mediocre so hopefully it's improved. Might try it.

Personally I'd never go back having stayed there for a few days. Awful pitch, but to be fair there were only a couple available, and got ripped off with the electricity charges. Overcrowded and insufficient facilities IMO for the number of guests. It seemed to cater more for long-term units, not interested in short stays. Not our type of site at all, but there again neither is Benidorm a place we ever wish to revisit.

But if that's what you like the location (the only reason we stayed) is okay but suggest you book in advance.

We went opening week of Curry mile.. Not impressed as we had walked up from town, nan bread was like out of a packet from Asda and double the price of a much better place we found later near our apartment. Like you say, may have changed and also others may like it. At least the option is there.

@TerryL You fussy bugger you... ;) :D Yep Beni is not for everyone.. Even I need a break from it now..

I booked via email.. said I had ASCI and no one ever checked it..(y)
Or go buy an ASCI book from the camping shop opposite El Raco.. :)

Been visting Benidorm for 5 winters and El Racho is OK but Villasol is favourite. However it is in need of a good refurb and were as you could just turn up at most dates up to 2 years ago since the terrorists have been hitting europe the French /German/ Belgiums are not going to Morroco/Tunisia etc and piling into Bendorm and you will have to book in advance now, Our friends wanted to come and visit us there and there was not one pitch left over the main Xmas NewYear period on any site in and around Benidorm. And it is filling up much earlier it used to be from Xmas onwards. We are thinking of going to Portugal next time.

Fascinates me how people flock to the resort out of season, don't they have central heating? it's not as if it's particularly warm. The pools are freezing, nights freezing, beach out of bounds, days short same as UK. If I'm driving a thousand miles to somewhere, I want it to be great ... Still, each to their own (y)

:reel:

We have been to Beni for a few years now - having a year off this year - We stayed at Raco and it was OK but expensive the Wifi was charged for except in the restaurant
We looked at Villasol it was further out that Arena Blanca that we chose, but not as close at La Torreta to the bars and restaurants (Colmars for UK grub, WOK Mandarin Chinese, Steak House etc.

Over 30 nights Arena Blanca is cheaper, has free Wifi over the site, a decent pool and fair restaurant though Raco's shop still wins for stock levels and fresh goods

One thing Raco doesn't tell you is that like Toretta it too floods in heavy rain at the bottom although it has better drainage than Toretta

Oh Yes watch out for Vicky Stickystar

We are currently on Villasol and it’s very nice. As stated before €20 a night with ascl.
No dogs though as we don’t have a dog no problem.
30 minutes to walk to the old town and tapas alley.

I have just booked Vilasol for June none acsi booking 161 euros for seven nights.

If terrorists have been attacking Europe why would you not go to North Africa? :D2:notworthy:

It certainly does, but neither is very warm. We're not snowbirds, we're SUNBIRDS

Same here but we have spent many winters in Spain wearing only shorts and t shirts..Must admit it gets cool at night and the days are short.Still much better than UK.. Not as good though as it is here in Isla Plana at the moment.BUSBY.

The whole ethos has changed I understand since the 90`s when we first started going. (for one thing we paid in patatos!(y)) and often the equivalent of £4pn long term. Have stayed at many of the sites on all the "costa`s". From near Barcelona all the way down to Malaga. We latterly used La Manga. Yes it can get "cool" for several days but I found that eventually the sun comes back, and it is quite mild.

Hi Monty don,
You asked if there were any views of Camping Raco - there's a video below that shows inside the huge site (a bit too big for us!!)
