Hi all have just had the above cancelled for third time this year. Today's phone call stated all services this week are cancelled. Are there any funsters out there who have a service anytime this week that is not cancelled? I ask as being told one technician rushed to hospital today (blue lighted from premises) and four others contacted by contact and trace to self isolate. That being the case then I'm just very unlucky, along with the poor technicians that are ill. Not being the most trusting person and travelling some distance for the work to be carried out, and having been cancelled three times, I was looking for some conformation of the total closure of the service bay. If any funster could confirm or refute this closure I would be in their debt.

We have had our first annual service on the motorhome postponed because Wales is in total lockdown.

Also the annual service and MOT on the scooter we tow behind us.

Sorry, but I know nothing about the dealer you mention.

It's a long way from Scotland to Lincoln for a look, was hoping a funster might be booked in or nearby.

Whoops, just read you are in Scotland. We stay at Jim Jasmin Camping, and Steve came to us. Sutton-on-sea is quaint but nice. 👍

What the op is basically asking is, has anyone got their van booked in at camper UK this week. Or have had similar cancellations.?

It’s only a 600 mile round trip through locked down or tier 3 areas with hostile locals and observant police.
get on with it :giggle:

Highbridge Devon are absolutely flat-out, jam-packed, booked-up-to-their-eyeballs busy. Even before COVID they were booking hab checks 6-7 months ahead. Ours is in for an unforeseen plumbing job (they have been brilliant at squeezing us in whenever something has been amiss) at the moment and they have several staff off, but ploughing on.

I don’t think your experience is too uncommon; I think we are all having to be more understanding and flexible with the current situation.

Just to add to my post. I as part of my purchase paid for three years service mot and hab check so would be unable to just go elsewhere. Would just like to know am I being cancelled as they already have my money and they are still open for servicing.

Been trying to get service since June.

Camper UK are usually pretty straight, so I'd be surprised if they're telling porkies. It would be so easy for anyone to check.
Having said that, I have today had an invitation to their Carthago open day this weekend.

Been trying to get service since June.
I had a warranty check with oil change and MOT on 16 October, booked about four weeks beforehand. This was on the first day of the Burstner weekend, but there didn't seem to be any problems with the booking or the work.

I have also received today the email invitation to the Carthago weekend on 30 October.

Yes I received same invitation to open weekend. Would really like to know if they are still carrying out services this week. Thought there might be a chance a funster was close enough to check or still be booked in for service.

Cavs said he booked four weeks ago in August I was told nothing available till October, which has now been cancelled and I'm now being offered late November. Sorry but really wish I could be confident that they were closed for services this week.

We ordered a part through camper UK saying we would like them to fit it. After a few weeks John phoned to see how things were. He was told wrong part had arrived and they had sent it back and the correct part would be about 4 weeks. Had a delivery card through the door when we got back from a few days away.
was a bit suspicious as we hadn’t ordered anything. Part duly arrived opened box, wrong part had been sent a wheel arch panel for a caravan, has 2 holes in it for fixing. The motorhome one does not. 4 weeks later we are still waiting for it to be collected and for new part to be delivered. This desire photos chassis no etc being supplied. Very disappointed shall ask John to phone again today as I doubt I could be subtle/calm or focused

Just out of interest, all those who were due a habitation service say in November and now told they can’t have one for three months. As I understand it they should be done every twelve months , does that mean that if it is 15 months since their last service are they valid?

Jimairi,

Ring Rob McGrath the aftersales manager and get it from the horse's mouth.

It depends on the manufacturer, Carthago extended the period by 2 months (I have it in writing directly from them) so ours is now due by 6th December, as it's booked in on 23rd/24th November for the hab and warranty stuff hopefully it won't be cancelled or changed otherwise that could be very awkward!

The level of trust is staggering

So you "think" that they "may" have got your money, but now don't want to do the work! Who knows? perhaps with all of the news being full of how "blighted" Scotland is, they don't fancy you travelling down to them? Suspicion works both ways!

But lets face it, it would be worse, if they took your van in, made you wait all day and handed it back later the day without actually doing anything at all!

Perhaps a lesson to us all! don't buy hundreds of miles away and then pay up front for three years of simple service work and MOT that could easily be done locally without any travelling or suspicion

If it were me, I would phone and discuss my fears direct with the company involved.

When all said and done, protecting their staff and obeying the law is their first priority.

They have 26 or 27 service bays,so probably some 20 plus service personnel working on vans, maybe just a portion of the bays are closed down due to covid.?

Any outcome on this issue?

Had mine serviced yesterday,,MOT booked for 14 dec,,BUSBY.

I've been told today that they have availability in December.

Thanks,
Unfortunately I am now landlocked can't travel out of North Ayrshire till Christmas relaxation date. At the stage of giving up. Get MOT locally and sell till this whole pandemic is done with. Thanks all who responded (in any way )

Our hab etc has now been sorted for 11th December (was early Oct then end of Nov), we could've had 4th but it's supposed to be snowing that day and we don't fancy travelling 3 hours each way in snow!

We're going to take it in, one of us in the MH, one in the car, then drop it off, come back home in the car, do the reverse to collect it a week later. If we don't then it's not gonna get the hab done until next year and our original 12 month anniversary was 7th October which Carthago have extended but don't want to push it further.

We are in tier 3 but hopefully won't be stopped anyway but if we are we're going to claim it's essential travel, not much else we can do really.

Good luck minxy girl I think it is essential people are travelling for a few hundred pounds think how much we have invested in our motorhome!
