Just bought the full version of camper contact app and I have noticed on some sites it says

Camping behavior not allowed

What does this mean does it mean no tent no loud partying please advise

Thanks

LB

It means parking only
No tables and chairs laid out
No other campsite style behaviour

Also no awning out.
It applies to most Aires, enforced more in Spain, French don't take much notice if it suits them.

Usually no awnings ,table chairs etc outside of van.

Watch what the Frence do ,and copy if you can get in:LOL:

And no washing on the bike rack!

Oh right thanks for that we will be in Germany so will see what all the others do

Can you sit in a reclining chair outside or is it literally just park up and shut the door

Oh!
I thought it meant not walking in a jolly manner whilst full of the joys of spring, dancing gailey amongst the flowers........

..it's best to obey the rules as to do otherwise is likely to have reprecussions for future motorhomers. There's an Aire just up the road from our house in Barcelona and there people are outstaying the 2 days maximum, there is capacity for 6 vans and there were 11 vans there the other day parked in the coach spaces, people were sitting outside on the pavement not only had their chairs out but tables also.... the Aire is opposite a school so the parents had problems parking because of the motorhomes. I can see the local authority getting really fed up and closing the Aire down because of the abuse....it's such a shame for those who respect the rules and will no longer be able to park here. They were all nationalities including Brits.

We stayed on an Aire at St.Antin val noble ( I think that was the place name) and the Police lady kept coming around and telling everybody with chairs and tables out “No Camping “
But the tour du France was coming through town so she was trying to get the vans to park closer as well.

And no side windows open - open roof lights are fine though. Also no steps left out.

We found that out of high season in France no one worried too much but most people put their tables and chairs on the grass behind the vans (if there was any) and put them away when not in use.

In Switzerland picnic tables were provided on the camperstop we used (twice).

The prices in Camper Contact are not always accurate - the place we stopped in Switzerland was supposed to be 1CHF an hour according to the book but was actually 10CHF for the first two hours and 1CHF an hour after that. There was also a maximum stay but we only did overnight on our way south and then back north again. Also one place we were going to stay when we got there we found it was book 24 hours in advance only, not an issue as there is always somewhere else nearby.

Officially no. And you are not even supposed to leave the door open even when you are inside the van. People do put recliners out on any grass around the aire (but not on the tarmac if it is a carpark type) but as soon as they are done with them the chairs go away. Whether this is the rule or they are frightened the chairs get pinched I couldn't say :)

Aires are sometimes really carparks which may have services for motorhomes and allow sleeping overnight. The rules do vary slightly from country to country and stop to stop so best to check if you can. Having said they are carparks remember some carparks have wonderful views :)
