So, just had the email to say the new edition is out and now available.
Just wondering what the take up will be this year.
For us personally, we will definately be getting a copy. Have had the book for the past 4 years, and although not used it regularly, have found some cracking venues.
I think with the lack of foreign travel taking place, and so more people looking to the uk, sites and areas are going to be rammed, making the BS option very appealing indeed.
Not a cheap option ( we always try and eat/support the establishment),but it’s a really good back up for when out and about.
Suppose to be more places in this years book👍

We haven’t sent for the new book yet but will be doing. As you say it could get very busy here if no trips over the water are allowed. Brit stops has been great for us the last few years. The price for us is immaterial as we would be eating out anyway. With britstops we don’t have to pay for a campsite.

Like Acsi good for finding locations but if you ask the landlord / owner he will let you stay especially if your purchasing food etc.

not always we had phoned ahead and booked one place, while waiting to get our table another van turned up, didn't have the book and was turned away. His language left a lot to be desired, espcially as we had 2 young children with us. Glad we didn't have to share the space with him.

We will be renewing our membership this year. As little as we could travel last year we used it a couple of times.
Helping to keep the pubs and other small companies in business is going to really matter after the crisis.

May be but Britstops have no contracts with the business and a friend of mine was asked if they could include their pub and they got a free book !

Brilliant way to stop when travelling around, have stayed at some wonderful places and met some great characters over the years

We are new to this MoHoming lark, in fact only done 6 trips in OUR OWN van, 5 of those only 3 nights.
We have most of the books, including Britstops showing differing sites from free in a muddy field, pub car parks and the top of the range expensive sites with all the facilities.
The 6 sites we have been on thus far have been of the latter type. We like very much the hard standing, EHU, water on pitch, drain on pitch, club house/restaurant etc etc.
I agree stay-cations are going to be very busy this year especially camping and Motor Homes.
We will not book in advance more than a few days. When we do decide to go anywhere it will be a case of phoning around in the general area where we maybe heading. I guessing the more expensive sites will fill slightly slower than the more budget sites.
This is what we found last year when booking. Many times the less expensive site were full, the expensive ones appeared to have space, albet one of them was the last one.
So hoping the sameish theory works this year, inshallah.

Why pay 30 odd quid when it's free and better?

For us, it’s KNOWING that you’re welcome rather than we MAY be welcome.

Every host in Britstops has signed up to the scheme and WELCOMES Britstops members.

Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can add an entry to the many Apps WITHOUT the establishment’s knowledge.

Sure, most establishments are content to accommodate motorhomes but some that are listed do not.

We are happy to support small businesses such as Britstops (who put time and effort into recruiting and vetting hosts) and their listed hosts; that is why it is better for us.

Not really they gave away or sold your email address to the new publisher of Touring Magazine.

Joined in the early years of Britstops but as neither of us drink and rarely eat out (yes we're miserable old gits!) didn't bother renewing. Never had a problem finding somewhere to stay for the night, have even used the occasional campsite!

Doesn't any pub allow you to stop over if you buy meal? We've never been members but never had a problem
Yes that's OK, but if we M Homers do not join the Brit stop as subscribers
then this family business will eventually fold,
when we pay multi £000 for our vans, the Brit stop fee is relatively pence
and can only continue to expand available sites with our suppor.t

Doesn't work like that though does it?
Just because someone has started a business to make him money out of something you can do yourself doesn't mean you have got to shell out thirty odd quid a year just to keep him in business.

Just paid for our copy.

It’s about supporting a business who have built up this idea and have agreement with the premises named in the book.....it’s not all about expecting everything to be free. Do the decent thing and pay for the idea this business has built up.

No thanks, rather put it to a tunnel crossing, you don't need any britstops over there.

But have you got a sense of humour?
