My premium was £401 fully comp. So yes looks like I paid a bit more for it .I thi paid k you must have payed extra for your European Breakdown...just checked my policy...only covers uk for Breakdown. If i remember correctly when i took policy out European Breakdown was an extra £160 odd so i declined.. Busby, I have a 7.23m long x 3.5t Coachbuilt and my premium from Safeguard, including the European cover, was £312. It is underwritten by Allianz. As far as I can remember they did not have an option to not have the European breakdown; they certainly did not quote me for it.
Comfort (and AIB) quoted me £346 for the same cover (RAC breakdown rather than AA), although they were willing to quote cheaper (about £60 less from memory) for UK only breakdown. Their's was underwritten by Aviva.
I saved a fortune by shopping around - Saga who I used for the first year of insurance, wanted £700 for the same cover in the second year (and I had made no claims) and would not budge when I told them they were too expensive.
Of course it is very difficult to compare what I pay with what anybody else would pay because so much depends on your postcode, where you keep the motorhome, and what motorhome it is. To help though I told them that I kept it on my drive, had an alarm (but did not know what category it was) and had reversing camera and sensors.

Busby am i missing something here? I read in your earlier post that you declined european cover from safeguard ,did you change your mind later.I keep mine parked on open car park behind flat,,no alarm,,no immobiliser ,,7000 miles a year mileage...do not think my policy seems that expensive...Had a van written off in Germany in 2009 , SafeGuard payed out very quickly,,,£27000 for van and they recovered my excess and £1500 for damaged contents..Very Happy with them. BUSBY

Should have said i did not take their European Breakdown...Went with ACSI at 87 euros a year...BUSBYBreakdown Cover yes.....still covered for accidents etc in Europe for 8 months a year....BUSBY.
They cover all over Europe and any size and weight. However, if you are over 7m or over 3,500kg then the cover is slightly different for breakdown. If you look on pages 10 - 14 of the European Assistance bit of the booklet they send you it sets out the differences. For example overnight expenses in emergency is paid for if the motorhome is under 3.5t but not if it is over.My Safeguard is for all 24ft3" plus bike rack and they are aware it is 4250kg. I'm covered unlimited mileage and all over europe for recovery £346 and I only have 4yrs NCB with them.
