Living the dream.
Not yet. I'm sure it will be close to the limit
Sorry to say @Knotties i think it will be well over the top. We have a Hobby 700 tag and have had it uprated to 5250kgs and were close.
We have a Yam 125 on our rack.
To get back to the OP, a 50cc wouldn't be very good plus rack will take your rear axle over. Get your van ready for a holiday, fuelled up, gassed up, food, clothes and wife on board and get weighed.
This is us ready for a six month trip to Spain.
Good luck.

I’m no expert, but i think @Badknee may be right, definitely worth finding a weighbridge to confirm where you are in terms of both max payload for the vehicle and axle load. Better to find out before a road side check etc.

We are also on a 3500 with circa 500kg user payload, which is why we went for the Hydratrail (hybrid rack/trailer) with wheels, to reduce the impact to rear axle load and the user payload. That said, guess who has yet to go to weighbridge in that configuration to check...

You can ride up to 125cc with a CBT, but you cannot carry a pillion passenger, which is what the OP wants to do.
I forgot he wanted to carry a passenger
I have a full bike licence

I'd Still forget the 50cc not worth the hassle

I have been caravanning for 32 years but in 2014 I have"gone over to the dark side"
We are going to buy a Scooter and a rack for our Bailey 625 therefore any advice on type of Scooter and rack would be welcomed.
I am restricted to 50cc will a 50cc carry 2 adults (150kilos) also what type of Scooter Rack is best.
Have spoke to Dealers but what I receive is the big sell and No test Drive
any help will be kindly appreciated.

I would forget about a 50cc one for two up if I was you - if you are restricted then what about a 3 wheeler like a Piaggio if your MoHo can take the weight - seen plenty of them on Italian & French MoHos and can be driven two up on a car licence.

Yes, you and thousands of others. The 3500kgs weight limit imposed has made for Moho's with next to no payload, I got ours weighed totally empty except for the driver and it was 3600kgs and as shown with the upgrade to 5250kgs theirs 1650kgs payload.

touring many years..42+
Also to add to what Wagoneer has said.. you will need to add the weight of your or a towbar, if your rack is of the towbar type.. as this would not be included in the original spec of 3.500 if.yours is the 3500kg...I would look towards a small trailer

You need to check that carefully. As I understand it, some of the three-wheeled variants don’t qualify as the distance between the two wheels is insufficient to be considered a three-wheeled ‘car’.

I met a Dutchman in France who towed a trailer like this and it contained everything that would normally fit in a large Garage. Motorbike / Cadac / Recling chairs / Tables and upright chairs / (belly) surfboards, in fact loads of gear.

This is my 300 cc Piaggio (modelled by @Ambilkate ) which I drive on a car licence and it goes inside my garage but if ever I have to downsize to 3500 kg then I will buy a trailer as above.

Re. Using a 50cc two-up. It depends.
We've used our 50cc 2005 Peugeot Ludix Blaster since we first started motorhoming in 2006. We DON'T go touring in it. We use it to get from the aire / site to the town, or occasionally to see the sights.
Our tour of Europe this year saw us do the whole Ardeche Gorge top to bottom and back. We add up to ~ 150kg on the 70kg bike.
Agreed it isn't a good idea to try major routes due to speed differentials, but we have only felt uncomfortable a couple of times when we inadvertently strayed onto >50 km/hr limit roads. Even up steep hills is possible, if slow :)
