Axle weight vs gross weight (1 Viewer)

Hi all, I have a single axle trailer plated to show a 4000kg maximum gross weight, but the maximum axle weight is only 3000kg. Does this mean the MGW can actually only be 3000kg?

I’m not sure but when connected some of the weight will be on the tow bar thereby reducing the weight on the axle so perhaps it could be 4000k in hotel?

To me the weights sound wrong I would think 4000kg would be max gross weight and axle weight 3000kg that then allows for net weight of trailer
so max gross is 4000kg

Is it on a ball hitch or a pin I do not believe you can go over 3500kg on a ball .

You're gonna need a bigger axle!

I think you're right, yes. There is also the noseweight of the hitch, but that is relatively low - maybe circa 75kg.

Yes. 4000kg max capacity, but axle weight only 3000kg.

3T on a single axle, it must be a very heavy duty trailer, out of interest whats the load rating on the tyres?

and as far as i understand it if the max axle weight is stated as 3T then thats the MGW.

That may be the mgw. but what does it weigh empty against what you can tow with you're mh and keep under the train weight. The payload available on the trailer could be real low.

The trailer and it's load 4000kg
Max load on the axle IE payload 3000kg so I suspect the trailer itself weighs 1000kg.

I have a single axle ifor Williams that is 1400kg with an axle load of 1000kg. The trailer empty is,........... 400kg

Must be one big trailer.

Thank you. I was thinking along these lines too, but the maximum imposed load is 1000kg which empties the unladen weight is 3000kg
