Has anyone tried Autoglass Specials for A class windscreen replacement, just wondering how they got on and whether the replacement was on site or if the motorhome had to be taken to Autoglass premises.

If by Autoglass specials you mean the guys that do the bigger rigs. Yes, we had chipped screen back in the summer with our A class Burstner. They came to the site we were on at the time and done it there, fantastic service and very professional guys. Must admit I was panicking a bit, so I went off to work and left the wife there, but she said they were great.

Thanks for that. Autoglass Specials is their specialist department for commercial vehicles. Busses, lories etc including caravans and Motorhomes.

Good info that.. One of the reasons we have never gone A Class is cos of the screen ( and me being paranoid )
Mikey, what was the cost of yours ?

Had my screen changed on a Rapido a class last year by Autoglass
Only paid £75 excess, good job done on my drive
Tim

am lucky the builders of my van used a ford Cargo windscreen one of the cheapest around.

Autoglass changed the screen on my last van - a 1990 Tabbert FFB Classic A class around five years ago. Apart from a two week delay shipping it from Germany there was no issue obtaining or fitting it. It cost £2300 paid by my insurance. The delay wasn't a problem as the crack was above the driver's eyeline and around 8" long.

Sat here waiting for them now expecting a call as the weather is terrible so may have to postpone.
Insurance is paying I just pay the excess. The guys from Autoglass are very professional and sourced the screen within half an hour. Talking to the guy the cost is £700.00 so amazed at some of the numbers stated on here. Mine is a huge screen on tag axle A class Hymer.
Will report back but from previous experience they'll be very good.

Update
Autoglass just phoned got the screen be here to fit in 45 minutes reckons an hour to fit and its stopped raining.(y)

Cost me £70 on my insurance, does not affect no claims. Wife asked the guys how much the screen would have been if we had no screen cover. £1200

Had a new screen fitted by Autoglass Specials last August to our Hymer A Class, after a crack caused by a stone in France. Autoglass obtained the correct screen for our vehicle direct from Hymer and it was fitted at their premises in Glasgow. Because of the size of the screen and the time required to cure the adhesive properly in dry conditions, it was definitely best done on their premises. They took great care and did a good job. Insurance paid all but the excess of £100. I think the screen was about £1300 plus fitting and vat.
