Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
I have a mate who does vehicle recovery in Northern Ireland & occasionally he sends photo's of what he's doing, it can be fascinating.
He's just sent these, anyone ever seen anything like this? Bloody scary & caused a genuine blowout.

looks like impact damage to me. seen many smashed alloy wheels over the years, where steel wheels just bend on impact usually

We saw this on a tractor unit waiting to collect a trailer from the ferry (not in the uk?)

Would be illegal in the U.K. not just the tyre there’s no mud guard on it either

Doesn't need a full mud guard even in the UK as long as always connected to a trailer.

Only applicable to foreign registered trucks. Uk registered have to have full mudguards.
The tyres on that truck have been re grooved, hence why they are shredded. That and they are drive tyres, so easily spun when coupling up to trailers etc.

Now this was a good repair, in the class of needs must ! Lasted ages.

Also whoever recut it did not follow the original tread pattern which would make it illegal

Sons have a tyre centre, This was removed from a motorhome. Lost air rather rapidly.
Loads of tread but the date !!o_O

this was our rear tyre after a blowout on a Spanish motorway.
i did think I would fix it with the bottle of gunk that came with the MH but I could't find where to attach the inflator.
