DVLA want me to take an ECG. I think I know what it entails but would be interested in how other funster who have had the test they got on. Surprised that the DVLA are going to pay for the test!!!!!

They connect a number of electrodes to your chest and sometimes ankle while you l ay quietly on the bed.
It records, job done.

A stress test is different, that's basically electrodes attached and bp band and you wLk on a treadmill which increases in angle.

What he said, it's basically recording your cardiac electrical output, will record the rhythm etc looking for any anomolies. Had one and performed many over the years.

I’ve had a few , as above several adhesive electrodes to find out how your ticker is doing , is there something in your med history that would prompt the request.

Google knows everything.

An ECG is fine and nothing to worry about. As above, you lay on a bed and they put electrodes on your chest area, sometimes under your arms and sometimes on your ankles. You don't feel anything at all. You just need to lay still and quiet, so they get a proper reading. I'm assuming you're male. If so, and you have a particularly hairy chest, they may need to shave you to get a good contact with your skin. If this is something that might concern you, you can always shave yourself before you go. The whole process normally takes around 10-15 minutes. Most of the time is taken up by putting the electrodes on, controlling unruly cables and removing the electrodes. Afterwards, you may have a small amount of gel on your skin (from the electrodes). This is easy to wipe off. I hope this helps :)

ECG very simple and quick. The treadmill is a totally different test and not as simple as it sounds. DVLA love the treadmill and send many ex heart attack vistoms for these. Very antiquated test now according to my local hospital.

I had to have cardiac ultrasound with stress, that was fun……not! When half naked, I do not look like this model 🤣

I had one of those when the MoHo dealer carried out some wrk recently the Btard's tried charging me for work they said would be under warrenty then 4.5 hours labour for something that would not take more than 2 they handed me with a Bill for £750 for something that should only cost £250 I am not naming them but will be contacting trading standards.

I do hope all is well for you now and it was just a minor blip

I would have been fuming!

Not based around Stafford are they?

An ECG done in hospital is easy & painless unless you have hairy bits then could hurt a bit when peeling the sticky pads off! I've also had portable one that monitored me over several days whilst carrying on normal life which was a bit more fun :) Really nothing to worry about & better to be checked than not (y)

Had ECG's myself and done thousands of the buggers, 10 sticky pads, 1 on each limb and 6 on your chest, only "concern" is if you have a hairy chest which may result in some hair loss +/- pain.

No they are down south, the MD is going to have an email about back of the fag packet pricing and not keeping records of customer discussions. They said they could not find any corespondence regarding the repair so I would have to pay. I produced my lap top brought the email string up and they folded. The point is overcharging and no record keeping, I suspect many a poor owner has been ‘had’ by these cartels.

I am surprised you didn't have an ECG done back then.
I agree, he must have done plus blood tests otherwise how would the docs have known he’d had one? I know I’m retired but I don’t think I’ve forgotten everything!

As it’s a recent heart attack I wonder if it’s an exercise ECG?

I was sent for a stress ECG almost 5 years ago. Sat for half an hour half naked with wires attached. 4 nurses in the room, all bickering with each other. My blood pressure was taken just before I had to get onto the treadmill and I was told under new guidelines I was not allowed to go on the treadmill because it was too high  so I was sent home, never heard anything else but I am still here (y)

If you had a heart attack you would have been hooked up to a smilar monitor of your heart?
Quick and painless test - had lots.
Slightly harder one is the stress test - often NOT on a reclining bicycle set up, more usually a tread mill that gets a bit faster and more inclined over 20 minutes. Still not too hard and they stop it the instant they see anything they think unusual. Took about 2 minutes (of the 20 minute test) for them to spot i had an restricted artery.

You will perhaps feel more anxious than you need to, as is the nature of lots of things medical.

Had AF since I was 50 had cardio versions twice it still runs out of time no great shakes🙂

I was sent on a pulmonary rehab course a few years back but before I could start they sent me for an ecg as I appeared to have an irregular pulse. Not only was my heartbeat irregular but it was irregularly irregular and having gone on to do the course I was the fittest one there. I live to tell the tale.

Exactly the same happened to me 10 years ago.

From your other posts last year you indicated that you had just recieved a C1 licence.Do you know why the DVLA is requesting an ECG.
Is it a ECG stress test that they want you to do ?
If that is the case then it's 9 mins on a tread mill ,with 3 mins at different gradients and speeds whilst your wired up to an ECG machine.

Had my third ECG after my third heart attack, minor, two weeks ago.
The question is how much will health insurance be for a planned trip to France in a couple of weeks.
Or should l just wing it, one wing for no insurance, or two wings to be an angel 😂😂
