I’ve not had it today
But this flashy red box comes up on my iPad regular too. I’m on chrome.

I am not fussed about the ad content so much as the animated border which is distracting - a bit like the black dog which goes round on the advertising hoardings when I am trying to watch football on tele.

I saw those ads this morning. They are a different thing but might be vaguely linked. That sort of targeted ad is based on browsing history and they may be picking up on the redirected pages.

Have to say I seldom see the adverts as I have to scroll down to view them when on phone... but noticed that I'm getting a lot of unfamilir and rubbish adverts... the usual motorhome related stuff and a load of rubbish as well... it' not related to my browsing history either.....
I mean .' Breast surgery ' wtf is that about:LOL:

I have a Samsung S7 Android phone and look at MHF site using Chrome. I have no problem with pop up ads taking over, but I do get ads on the right hand side of the MHF screen and always have done. But they cause me no problems because I just ignore them..

Normally use a Galaxy Tab S2 and Chrome. Been in Europe since mid December and using Microsoft phone with Windows 10. No obvious problem. Last 5 days in Calpe back to Galaxy, sometimes tethered to Windows phone sometimes using sites less than secure Wi fi. No obvious problems. Always get some adds to right of page on MHF but usually the likes of Dave Newell and John's Cross. Don't suppose any of this helps. Have not taken o n any new apps while away and not aware of any app updates.

The flashy red box just appeared on my HP laptop screen. Only on the U Shaped Lounge main index tab. Not on the Motorhome Chat tab.

My OS is Win10 and browser is Firefox. I haven't downloaded any new apps or clicked on any ads lateley. The only recent major download has been a big update for the Garmin maps a week ago.

My 2007 steam powered Toshy laptop (XP Pro and Firefox) seems immune to the flashy red box ad. It runs Kaspersky Internet Security which advises me to disconnect at least 3 other sites with invalid security certificates that try to download when I use it to go on the Fun forums.

These dodgy downloads are not flagged up by Windows Defender on the HP. Time for a re-think about Windows Defender.

After no redirects yesterday it's just happened now, maybe around 6 pages loading one after the other. Have to close Chrome to get back to Fun.

If you Google "rgshark" there are several reports of it affecting users of forums. Sadly, no one seems to have any idea how to stop it.

You have to search for just "rgshark" not "rgshark ad malware" or anything else it tries to offer.

Edit: I've just disabled Javascript in my Chrome browser. This is a bit of a fudge as some sites need it but it is possible to add sites by name which are allowed to run javascript. I'll see how it goes.... :)

@Boringfrog that looks horrible. My guess is that google might have a hand in the way the scammers have targeted your samsung.

I'm not going to use my Moto to view this forum. Too risky until we know how to stop the scareware popups.

I have an android phone using chrome. The same as per boringfrog has occurred x3 since Saturday -when logged onto Fun only.
Haven't downloaded any apps in the past week but did add Search for Sites 2 weeks ago or so. I do have The Guardian app and this has updated in the past week.
I use Eset security and this didn't find anything when I did a scan.

I don't suggest for a moment anyone tries this but if you try, as I've done, going to the rgshark website directly Malwarebytes will intercede and block it. Unfortunately, it doesn't do this when the redirection happens automatically.

Possibly interesting update from my last post. Having disabled javascript and using my phone on this site for an hour or so the "shark" has kept away.
So I put MHF as an allowed site which could run javascript. This was needed as the site sort of worked without javascript but the menus were a bit muddled.
So, I enable javascript and within 30 seconds he's back, but not as we know him. :)

Screenshot_20180122-194752.png

Which is basically just a blank page and I guess is to be expected as shark dot com can't run javascript.

I started getting these pop ups from rgshark only on tablet and Android phone only while on mhf
Only way I could stop them was by installing an add blocker after much research I installed adblock fast and no longer get the pop ups
Hope this helps

Lots of sites won't work without javascript.
Here's what I have done after the last pop ups appeared, deleted all cookies history etc, then synced chrome so hopefully all my Android devices will have a clean Chrome. You will have to put passwords in on sites and accept cookies all over again.
