Hi All.
Just about to invest in a new M/H Swift Bolero, ordered a oyster sat dish and roof light Air Con, Solar panel already comes fitted. Dealer now tells me that I can not have the roof light Air Con as well as the Sat Dish not enough room on the roof. Anyone else had this problem. thanks in advance

If you ask the dealer for a picture of the roof, we’ll soon be able to tell you

Had a similar situation a couple of days ago, the dealer had said ‘No’

Our guys just swung the solar panel round 90° and everything fitted fine

We are 7m with two solar panels, 85cm satalitte, large roof lite that is the space to fit air on, a roof fan, sky lights over bed along with two in the bathroom and toilet, an iboost and a mifi aireal and still have space for two further solar panels, mind that’s German engineered

When we bought our last new Bolero, a 712 SB in 2012, the OH requested a RoadPro dome system be fitted. We also considered Aircon and were given a cut off date, to inform our dealer if we wanted to go ahead with the Aircon.
In the end we didn't bother, but at no point were we told we couldn't have both.

I suppose they layout of your roof could differ, but there was loads of room on the SB after the RoadPro was fitted.

20 years (unless you count my dads VW which makes it 52 years with a few gaps!!)
I had aircon on my last van, never used it. you can only use it on hook up anyway and if you are sitting next to the beach in Portugal, are you going to be sitting in the van with the windows shut and the aircon running? probably not:)

I replaced the rear US aircon to fit a Waeco unit as it will run on a low amp EU hookup , if i wanted the aircons on before i had to run the gennie , which wasnt always being neighborly . If you want a good nights sleep when its hot aircon is a Godsend (y)

I think they weigh about 38Kg

Would you be getting the sitcom put above your bed, that's most probably where it might come in handiest but might be noisy.

Cheaper off finding some shade.

Contact Eddie at vanbitz, my van is only 6.5 m long and has a 80w solar panel, a Truma agenta air con unit and Eddie and his team managed to fit me a sat dome on the roof so your van at 7.7m should be no problem to vanbitz, they do a first class job, all my vans have also had a Strikeback alarm fitted by them, I would never go anywhere else.

If you want AC you must make sure it is inverter driven variable speed. They are MUCH quieter. The reciprocating compressors on the older cheaper ACs start with a bang too.

They dont seem to be selling in UK atm ? only list freshjet etc .
There's no way I would buy a fixed speed unit, they are ancient. Building ACs have been using inverter systems since the 1990s and start up like sewing machines in comparison.
You see a lot of complaints on forums about noisy AC units from both inside the van and outside. (people unplugging hook up etc)

I've never heard a motorhome inverter AC running but building ones you can stand next to and the only way you can tell they're running is because you can see the fan turning, or you can hear a rumble if you press your ear against the casing.

Import one! (y)

We had a dometic freshlight in our previous motorhome.

New install, cost a fortune. And hardly worked. It never really chilled the air.

Had dometic out to check its operation and he said it the best they get.

It was a waste of money and we did not bother in the new van.

See one work before spending the cash.

RAC is What I Do.

I fitted a Truma Ducted unit. Even when I struggled to find a way to duct, I did it by putting through the bathroom.

It works perfectly, takes some time to get going. But what a godsend it was in the South of France this year. The Hymer is 6.5 Metres, ish. But the smallest truma Saphir is adequate.

We have had Roof mounted Dometic in the past and they are very noisy.

Here’s our 6.36m panel van roof, 100w solar, large and small hekis, sat and analogue ariels, freshlight aircon and an iboost, all neatly fitted, so would have thought yours should be doable?
