We need to renew our travel insurance as Insure and Go will only do 31 days now one of us is over 65 ?

We need travel insurance for up to 60 days in one trip, neither of us takes any medication and we are both healthy. Europe multi trip is required.

Any suggestions?

May be worth trying Staysure - up to 70 they let you have 50 days per trip, but you can pay to extend to 100 days once a year. I think it’s maximum 182 days in all a year.

Try LV (formally Liverpool Victoria),with on-line application at
Broken Link Removed

We have joint cover - both in 70's, with pre-existing medical conditions declared - and have multi-trip annual cover (with 90 day trip limit). Not cheap for us because of pre-existing medical issues, but we get a small discount as we also have vehicle and home insurance with LV.

Ditch current supplier immediately, try LV or others

On our last trip we used Eurotunnel insurance mainly because we have medical conditions.
You don't have to declare conditions providing your doctor can confirm you are fit to travel. We are 73 and 70 and had cover for 2 months. Of course you only find out how good the cover is when you have to make a claim. So can't speak for that bit.

We use Eurotunnel insurance and have been told we can't extend to more than 31 days. How do you manage to get 2 months?

I just entered the dates on the booking form. It didn't seem to be a problem.

Insurance that comes with Lloyds Bank accounts covers you up to 80 years old. Standard is 45 days and you can pay to extend it.

Although we have annual travel cover, out of interest I just attempted to make a 6 week return Eurotunnel booking, departing in a couple of weeks time, and asked for Travel Insurance for me and my Wife. As we are both over 70, only single-trip cover is offered. The quote was £176 which seemed rather expensive to me. However, if you have serious but stable pre-existing medical conditions which other Insurers are unwilling to cover, this may be the only viable option.

We use the Caravan Club and I thoroughly recommend them. One of the reasons I like them is because they cover repatriation of the MH and the dog, should the need arise. We have made a claim in the past and it was very well dealt with. They also offer a helpline if you are ill abroad and they were extremely helpful and supportive last year.

Staysure is the one company to avoid still battling with their loss assessors through the ombudsman as having had a mild stroke they removed my coronary cover which meant I had to cancel a cruise, part of the cruise T&C were you must be fully insured. Staysure trying to state I didn't cover all my illness unfortunately for them I sent them my full medical records recorded delivery as so many insurance company's try this on and as I said to the ombudsman whats the point of paying over three hundred pounds for a year long multi trip policy if insurance companys try and cancel it as soon as something goes wrong

If you have house insurance with nfu , travel insurance is included.

Are you sure about this? Perhaps it is a cover you have which is no longer offered to new customers. According to the NFU insurance website they do not offer travel insurance and the two options for home insurance are building only or building combined with contents insurance.

I'd check that.

Your contents maybe covered out of the home but you haven't got full travel insurance - medical, repatriation etc. I say this as someone with NFU cover on house and all our vehicles.

Another vote for CMC. Their Red Pennant travel insurance is multi-trip and each trip up to 66 days. Very easy application process too.

What's this then , came yesterday.

But only applies if a UK resident.

So it's a seperate 30 day policy on top of your home insurance and/or vehicles - not part of your home policy for which you pay an additional premium of £133 pa.
You are correct but you can't get it without having your house insurance with them and it is on the same policy, and as far as I know you can alter the 30 day thing we just didn't need to, and we had been quoted that much each elsewhere, I'm 72 Julie 68.

after going to lots of insurance company's checked how much extra on nationwide bank wife heart problems + 120 days in Europe paid extra £338, other company's silly money £000

Hi just got quote L&V 90 days with medical problems that’s both of us £196.62
