A photo of the day thread

? Flower .. Sorry don't know that one ...
The Agave succulent, throws up a huge tree like flower, then it dies.
We have quite a few of them around here.

If I remember, I'll take a photo of one on my morning walk, around the Golf Course.

I've been out for a lovely lunch with an equally lovely friend followed by a wander round the shops. Now, I'm a sucker for notebooks, I just can't resist them and have long been promising to have one for the mh/caravan to keep a journal of where we go.

Anyway, found this one in my favourite Shiny Things shop aka TKMaxx :D

We are just discussing where to go so I can christen it (y)

I adore that first picture @Bobndebs McKay !

Caption for the second one -
"Bloody tourists, just ignore 'em".

[Well, that's what they'd be saying if it was Cornwall anyway.] ;)
Thanks CWH, I have plenty of pictures from when I was there although I am not a photographer, I hired a Canon 400 "something" camera for a few days and got lucky with some of the shots. I have a few of some Commersons Dolphins wave riding too, they came right into the shore and were around 8 feet away on a few occassions.
I can post some if you would like to see them.(y)

Oh yes! [please]

Debs (on a visit to me) on the Beach near Mare Harbour, Falkland Islands.
See the Dolphins in the background.

Once the Dolphins knew we were there, they started "showing off"

They were riding in pods of three and four at a time. They are Commersons Dolphins.

I hope you like them, as I say I am no photographer and was using a hired Canon Camera. @CWH

LOL!

Can I recommend the sealions and rockhoppers on Pebble Island for a good photo opportunity!
You'll be sick of the wildlife in a few weeks then you'll be back to the bar!!!!

I know I was!

The minefield signs remind me of the time a group of us travelled to Stanley from MPA in a 4 tonner, around December 1993!

Well, we spotted a sheep in a minefield and just had to stop and watch it for a couple of hours to see if it blew up!
The sheep refused to blow up, so we reluctantly got back in and drove on! Beer and the Benny Bop was awaiting in Stanley!

I was there in the Winter Jon, and there was very little at Sealion Island, also our flying was restricted by the weather so Heli Trips were difficult to come by. We took the advice to do Volunteer Point when we did get the Chance to fly. I worked shifts (Eng Ops Control) and spent a lot of my time Walking and flicking a fly in remote spots. Fabulous.

Not a great photo but the structure in the middle is Edinburgh Castle taken from my brother's window. He had a great view of the fireworks on hogmany and lovely lit up at night.

Favourite spot for us Carol, like to get Fish and Chips from the 'Mediterranean Chip shop' next to the Bowling Alley then park up to eat them by Fort Perch Rock and watch the ships coming in and out the Mersey.(y) If you go to Hoylake (when the tides out) there's usually a good few Sand Yatchs racing on the sand bank to view as well.
