My Elddis 115 has just reached it's 10th birthday. I bought it 2nd hand 4 years ago - 15,000 miles on the clock. Disappointingly low mileage to date - 30,000, though not for lack of trying! Anyhow my question is this: At this age and usage, is there any component in the habitation I should consider renewing soon. What is the life of the water pump for example? Should the boiler be left alone and carry on as normal? My CO monitor still beeps on testing, is that OK? Ditto the smoke alarm. Will all the electrics still be fine? Trip switches etc?
Not worried about the engine as that has been serviced regularly.
I look forward to some interesting replies.

An additional question following on from this. Does the lack of use of many components mean they now have a shorter than normal life? Will pumps and motors need to be checked after not being used for months?

If your van is behaving at 10, chances are she will be good at 20 and beyond. Just keep an eye on roof and window seals.

a definite job a few quid to be safe and dont forget the clips

Water pump.....mine looks like it’s the original,so 14 years old never misses a beat (kiss of death statement!). I carry a spare pump as I’m a belt and braces man.

Boiler.....leave it alone,apart from flushing through to clean/descale,for which search threads on here.

Gas pipe.....as above.

If it ain’t bust.........you know the rest!

How old are the tyres? ..........see threads on here.

During the winter months,if not being used,take it for a 40 mile run once a month.

Our Hymer turns 20 soon and we only replace/repair when something breaks/stops working, otherwise stuff gets left alone!

Might be an idea to put new batteries in the smoke and Co alarms and clean the dust out with a vacuum cleaner.

CO monitors only have a life of 5 - 7 years dependant on make so I would replace that and check the tyre dates, if original they defiantly need changing before you experance a nasty blowout.

My van is now 10 years old. I carry a few spare parts as an insurance policy.

Such as:
1) water pump
2) gas regulator
3) jet for fridge
4) selection of tools, insulating tape, gaffer tape etc

As mentioned above, you are probably nearing the time when the tyres need replacing. Check date stamp on tyres. It's generally recommended to replace after 5 to 6 years.
