Hi
I have just been in touch with DVSA and asked about the new tyre rule which came out in January 2021.
So my 9 metre Motorhome which carries six passengers including the driver total six people, is class 4 MOT and is not subject to this new 10 year tyre rule and that means your Motorhome should not fail it’s MOT because of that new rule. However its recommended to change your tyres every 5/6 years for safety
If anyone wants to call DVSA here’s the number 0300 123 9000
I’m told by DVSA there having problems and a lot of Motorhome’s are being failed when they shouldn’t be?

I was MOT tester at signature motorhomes for 6 years. Some of the tyres on the yank RVs are scary with so much side wall perishing, spoke to VOSA on numerous occasions about it. I was told to pass and advice. But tick the “in my opinion the tyres were dangerous “ box.
they were just round the corner but would not come look !
