If your going to a show P.M C.L.S or Ash and one of them will do it for you if they are going to be at the same show. Very reasonable price and job done properly.

Here here.......so what do you get for all this dosh. Does it include a full service of all your appliances and a PAT test, how about your air con, is that included. In 25 years and a good 10 motor-homes (1 euro box and 9 RV's) I have never had a habitation check.
I do what I need to do myself and when i have the vehicle serviced I state what I need.

I would think that a hab check would reveal a creeping damp problem long before you might discover it yourself and long before it might cause a serious problem. Well done Bob if you can do all that yourself but we're not so smart and do, occasionally, need help as, I suspect, others do on here.

Not rocket science, not expensive..I paid £130 two weeks ago, the guy was MCEA approved and came and did the checks at my home saved me taking it back to the dealer. The check was necessary to keep manufacturers warranty alive but when I saw how thorough the checks were I was well impressed. I don't think it's much of a boast Bob that in 25 years you have done whatever was needed yourself, didn't you do a 400 mile round trip a month or two ago to get an alarm system looked at? You might counter that specialised kit was needed for the alarm system but [HI]do you have the kit to pressure test gas or damp checks or electrical equipment yourself.[/HI] I would suggest that whilst you are having sevicing done you were paying for habitation checks anyway.

Not rocket science, not expensive..
Contrary to what we are lead to believe Gooney, annual gas safety inspections are not a requirement for motorhomes or caravans or statics. Likewise with PAT testing or any of the other habitation checks. Warranty requirements are purely that. There's not truly a lot of things that are rocket science except rocket science, but can the manometer you show pressure test to 50psi? Can the damp meter detect without piercing the inner fabric? can the multi meter do a drop test on your leisure battery? Kit that can do these functions does not come cheap but most importantly where do you obtain the documentation to authorise you to sign off a valid gas test?

You are being fed a load of nonsense. If you wish to believe it is up to you. It will give you no guarantee that a mouse wont eat into your gas pipework on your return from your habitation check. Constant monitoring is the only way that's what your senses are for. If you cant trust them, you could always fit a couple of isolating valves and a small pressure gauge. You could then check the system every night if you are a worrier.Nice to have peace of mind if you have kids or grand kids aboard though isn't it!!

Disagree, I think all members will be aware that using gas can be hazardous if appropriate care is not taken, especially when replacing gas bottles. Members are being criticized for not having habitation checks, surely this is up to the individual.........Yes buttons, you will have to stop feeding me this nonsense, in my earlier career I was a time served mechanical fitter, I have the knowledge, capability and confidence to and indeed fitted a gas barbeque point to my motorhome, what I didn't have was the equipment to pressure test, not leak test, the gas system. Therefore I had no problem paying to have my gas system certified as safe. However this post is not about my knowledge, or yours, It's about a certain amount of flippancy that may indicate to less capable funsters that habitation checks are not important.

You will be doing 70 % of a annual service check every time you use the van See att what is done mostly seeing / checking everything works --I have a pressure testing thing in the garage somewhere but it has been there for above 5 yrs looked for it a couple of times but it must shift its self about I simply turn on and off my gas bottle (fitted gaslow gauge-(£20) leave for 20 mins if still green OK if red I got a leak
