You live in Tourettes-sur-Loup? We used to live in Vence, back in 2003-5
Vence is a lovely town. Coincidentally we were there for lunch yesterday before heading up to the Courmettes.

We have had our house in Tourrettes Sur Loup since 2011. Our post retirement plan, hatched before you know what, was to spend at least half the year either in TSL or using our campervan to tour from there. Thanks to three French TLS visas we have managed to stick with the very fine plan and have enjoyed touring in the South of France, Italy and some of the Mediterranean islands.

Well, not last night but tonight. At side of parents in law's bungalow in Bicester, boiling hot and frazzled after taking 3 hours to go 75 miles from West Wiltshire, traffic. Their beloved garden is looking pretty poor, and they now have water restrictions so everything will die. Maybe thunderstorms tonight, love it when tucked up in the van!

What's the name of the site, or GPS please? I love CSes next to rivers.
Hi, yes sure, it’s….

Bryndulais Farm
Seven Sisters
Neath Port Talbot
SA10 9EE

We’ve seen loads of Grey Wagtail, Dipper, warblers, Heron, and even a pair of Kingfisher too. There are two separate camping fields, both lovely, but this bit that we are on has an open view of the river whereas the other field does not. We also happen to have it to ourselves. 😎

In Barmouth at the moment trying out the awning attached to the van. I could not get the door open even with the driveaway kit without risk of tearing the awning with top corner of sliding door. Ended up winding Thule canopy out 15cm and using the legs to raise everything. Looks odd but allows door to open with no contact with awning.....

Actually the night(s) before last, at RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo).
The canopy on the off-side was positioned to keep the very strong sun off of the side of the van, and thus help the fridge. It worked very well. The canopy got scorching to touch, the van side was cool to touch.
I went inside the main show ground on Friday (20-30min walk from the site) and watched from the campsite the other days.

Ballinamore Marina Ireland on the Shannon - Erne Waterway.
Waterways Ireland allow motorhomes/camper vans to stay overnight for free at their marinas. To use the toilets, showers, washing machines etc you can buy a smart card for £11.30 that gives you 20 units. Four vans here last night and very quiet.

Did report this earlier.

Are you aware the highest risk to the railway is Level Crossing misuse, that by taking this image of a bicycle on the crossing you have carried out.
Were you by chance standing in the four foot to take the image? Which is trespass.

This year has seen a 28% increase in fatalities on Level Crossings, including 2 in 3 days on the 11th and 13th July. This is the largest increase in over 20 years. Those fatalities include school aged children, young fathers, grandparents.

We are now in the summer holiday season where youngsters are more likely to trespass on the railway and misuse Level Crossings. Do you understand the message you are giving by behaving in an irresponsible manner and posting your behaviour in the public domain?

Are you aware that 84%+ of innocent train drivers that bowl over trespassers and misusers never work again due to the trauma of taking someone's life or leaving them with life changing injuries, through the irresponsibility of others.

There is a campaign currently that is deliberately high impact due to the increase in misuse on and around the railway:

Professionally I have to report your irresponsible behaviour as by viewing the imagery I have guilty knowledge. There may well be a covert camera that recorded your actions.

I truly hope you will change your behaviour for everyone's benefit.

Thank you.

To answer your question no, I had no idea it was trespassing and no I was not aware of any of the facts you stated. No I did not consider my behaviour would encourage others to maybe copy me and the thought did not cross my mind at all. In fact I thought it was just another photo. No way I can edit this unless Jim removes the photo for me. No I wont be taking a similar photo in future and thanks for making me aware of the facts. Sometimes you do things without thinking especially when you are mentally distracted for whatever reason.

Good response TC3, we all make mistakes but few put their hand up and acknowledge it.

...and not even "a photo of your van camping last night"
Again sometimes you do things when you are mentally distracted. An example is loss off someone close very recently. Thought I was posting this in photo of the day thread.

I had someone complain on Flickr about this picture citing the danger to me and others.

Except it was taken over my garden fence....

Let's hope you do understand the seriousness of your ignorance, which is no defence.

Please digest the information in the link to yuovstrain I posted earlier. It is impactful.

Sadly, distraction has been the cause of at least 3 of the recent fatalities, an 11 year old schoolboy, a young mother and a grandfather in the last 3 months on one region of the network alone.

Lots of support is available. At some railway stations there are Railway Guardians (they wear white smocks/bibs/vests) you can talk to, and members of staff who will listen with compassion. If you feel the need, just ask them. The issue of mental health is better understood and the railway has moved to be there for people.

Give a thought to those who have to collect the bits of body, tissue, fluids that can be over a distance of 3 miles when a train hits a person.

Also check 1 of your images that has a sign explaining things railway, that is no longer visible.

You’ve been put right. You shouldn’t have stopped to take the photo. But I don’t see the need to remove it. It’s a great photo in as much it perfectly illustrates what we shouldn’t do.

Castleton CAMC on Sunday. Between the lashing rain storms....
I had fun on Sunday setting up our awning in a thunderstorm but its only water and at least the wind was not too bad.

Whats the verdict on that CAMC site? We were thinking on heading that way next month.

No worries
Perhaps I was out of order
But I was trying to lighten the heavier posts.
Sorry if you're under stress.

The site is pretty decent but as usual not cheap. It was £41 a night. Usual standard loos etc. Easy walk into the town and of course walks galore in the area.

The weather wasn't th best ..

The old Mam Tor road was packed as usual with the off gridders.
