Recommendations for a Camera... Please.. (4 Viewers)

I have had umpteen various cameras over the last few years...

And all have proved to complicated for a numpty like me...

What I would like is a Camera that takes nice crisp clear photo`s.. without...

All the bother and hassle of turning knobs and various settings etc...

A simple aim and press the button with outstanding quality photos...

And one that will take a 64 mb card (I think that`s is what that little thing that slots in and out.) that holds the photos so you can download to a computer..

Any recommendations..... please ......

How long is a piece of string question.

I have two slr cameras but also a Sony point and shoot.
You will get plenty of suggestions and these cameras are really good. A lot of the time I can’t tell the difference between the Sony and the Nikons

Bought an “all singing all dancing“ telescopic lens to fit a Samsung S20 as a Christmas prezzie. Paid a reasonable price for it and guess what? Absolute c**p doesn’t cover it! Does anybody have first hand knowledge of a decent lens to fit. I appreciate I’m not going to get canon/Nokia...

Canon Powershot SX740 would be one on my radar - for a pocket point and shoot ultra zoom camera.
It would take a 64GB SD card - maybe larger. I think 64MB was a typo

My current camera is a ~2016 Canon Powershot SX620 that I bought for taking pics of live bands but I use it on hikes and at zoos, etc.

Both those have full auto modes, can be connected via USB cable to a computer for pic transfers or via WiFi. Once setup, the WiFi link to the canon photo app just needs a button press at each end.

These are from my Google Photos backup but I don’t think Google did many alterations.
Edit2. Ooops. The 1st pic is from an iPhone but does show where I was stood for the 2nd pic…

Pictures with me are a bit of hit and miss.... too many settings and knobs..

But surely your Sony has a full auto mode? If so, you can’t get much simpler.

Obviously a lot depends on how much you want to spend.

I recently got a Panasonic TZ 95, has more bells & whistles than you can shake a stick at...
...but mostly used on automatic IA setting.

The lens & the electronic brain is what you need to focus on (pun intended, sorry).

I've got a Panasonic FZ82 which has iA (intelligent Auto) where all you have to do is zoom to the "closeness" you want and fire.

Takes excellent photos in this setting however it's also got a huge amount of other functionality that'll probably (definitely) confuse you though.

As said, it may be better using a mobile as some of them take excellent photos (our Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro's do) and are very easy to carry around and, obviously, have other functionality.

Yes.. has a auto mode button.... but still have to twiddle a couple of knobs to select what you are taking a photo of...

Probably easy to some one in the know...

I always remember Brian hilldweller trying to show me how it worked he said it was a fabulous camera and took a couple of fantastically clear photos..

Then gave it to me and it all went downhill from then...

Sorry, used to few words.
Canon made the SX740 as a replacement for my older SX620

Both are small compact cameras that fit in a pocket.
If small isn’t a priority there’s a larger Canon SX70 to consider.

That was on my "maybe" list but didn't think it offered much more for the additional cost (+>£200) over the Panasonic I ended up with.

I've had quite a few digital cameras over the last 18 years, and I'm mainly a point and shoot kind of guy.

The great thing about digital is you can just take loads of shots, but only keep what turns out as you want.

But for the last three years have been very happy with the cameras on my Android phones (currently a Google Pixel 4a).

The phones produce publishing-quality pics, of which I've had quite few.

And Google Photos provides a really easy way to store and manage images - I now pay £15.99 a year for keeping thousands of high resolution photos, readily accessible from any device anywhere. I find the whole system so much easier and more convenient than uploading pics to be stored on a computer.

My zoom on my Sony is a lever by the little thing you press down to take the photo..

I got the hang of that...

I've got a Panasonic lumix bridge camera. Can't remember the model. It's got zillions of settings.

I just set it to A and take the photos. Brilliant camera with massive zoom lense.

Great for wildlife.

Lumix/ panasonic all the way, had them from basic camera to g9. Love them and have leica lenses in most of them best lenses you can buy. Imo.
