Electrical help please (2 Viewers)

[Figaro]

I bought a used dometic air con unit (B2200) off a funster and decided to bench test it before doing anything.
The electrical connections are simple enough, block connector to face plate in hab area and live neutral and earth which I fitted a 13 amp plug to. Plugged into extension lead ....... pop. !!!!! Bugger.
A fuse on the PCB has blown and I hope it protected it sufficiently to prevent damage.
For the life of me I can't see where I've gone wrong, all connections good.
Am I missing anything obvious ?
Any ideas where to go from here ?
I don't think I have a correct fuse to replace the blown one so can't do anything today.
The unit was tested, found working and removed by sellers dealer and sold in good faith so I've no problem with seller.
If junk and not repairable, I'll just put it down to experience, but seems a stranger one.
The problem I'd expected, if any, was going to be fan working but no cooling.
Any help / suggestions please ?

The supply is 230v only, they can be run from a 6amp hookup, if nothing else is switched on.
By blowing the 10amp fuse, it would suggest a problem within the unit.

Only the newer ones can run on 12v & they cost a fortune.
I'd slip the cover off the main unit to see if there's a short circuit anywhere & also test the main wire to the unit, it may have become damaged en-route to you.

Oh & edit, make sure the heating element is switched off before you try it again.

Ok, looked at PCB and seen this, could it be damage, one of those connections goes directly to the main fuse.

Amy mark like that on a PCB means something isn't right? Looks like a track overheated?

Yes, often. But needs someone with electronics skills. They can reinstate the track and test at component level.

Varistors sometimes go short on circuit boards and cause this fault. They are a protection device for transient voltage spikes. Once triggered they go short and need removing. The varistor will appear blackened and maybe cracked, but here's what they should look like...

You need to be running it off 2.5MM hook up size cable, check you are not using smaller cable

I don't see anything resembling a varistor.
Suspect damage in top RH corner

Would the guys that refurb electroblok be able to inspect / repair. Is it aplujack and / or a and a caravans ???
Or anyone else ?
I know a guy that repairs PCB on games machines but not sure if he could do this.

That is the PCB vapourised by an overload. it may have gone at the same time as the fuse. If you're up to it look at the first component connected from that track. You might get lucky & find something damaged.

Some people fit any old cable that is lying around instead of reading and following instructions. Just gave some free and friendly advice to another Funster.

That pcb damage makes no sense. The only way I can see it happening is if those tracks rubbed on something metallic.

There were two pops when I plugged in ... .... eek
What might cause an overload ?
To be fair I did use a bit of cable laying around and not 2.5mm but it looks ok.
That damage is between the live and neutral with the fuse in between, and both go to the copper coil.
Thanks for help tonyidle , does it look repairable or toast ?

In the first photo it looks like a water stain on the pcb that would have shorted it wouldn’t it??
