IMO the one on the end of the N154 is not worth avoiding, like the ones that take you around Biarritz.
Hi Jon

I had about prepared myself to pay the Biarritz one(y) but we have turned around so this was on the way to La Mailleray sur Seine, I thought it’s only a couple of miles we might be able to afford it:LOL:

So unbelievable attack on your Mil but don't underestimate your BIL as people sometimes come into their own in different circumstances.

On a lighter note you must be under pressure volunteering class 3 and not going for the classe deux!

Thoughts with your family.

The screen said class 3 my tone sounded a bit like “class 3 are you sure” but she was.

I did wonder but didn’t want to be rude,

Was I close;)

Martin
I think you'd be entitled to be 'rude' (I think I was but I really didn't mean to be. ..)

But were you close? - Sorry, nope.
Correctly re-posted in Morning Funsters.

Meanwhile, back on track, I hope that Jen's mum is managing to be angry rather than scared and that having seen her settled, you both can soon feel able to pick up your travels.

Somebody told me that this aire at St Nicolas was quite a bit higher than La Maillersye, well @DavidG58 all I can say is glad we are not on the other one as the high tide tonight should be about up on road but not our tyres I don't think, I will be setting my alarm for 03:00 though.

I don't recall using the words 'quite a bit' although higher may have been used :)

I also have to admit never having been there o_O

@FIDGET is the man for advice on the site, he gave me a link for our last trip when I mentioned my aversion to barriers and tokens which has now been fitted at la Mailleraye, the barrier was in but not in use last February

Are you on your own at St Nicolas?, if there are french registered MH's there you should be OK

However I hope the road out is all uphill (y) actually I really hope you don't have to leave of course o_O

Hi Martin,
So sorry to hear about MIL ,hope she soon can put it behind her & no lasting repercussions .
As to St Nicolas de Bliquetuit aire , I'm not sure it's any higher the wall there , hope you are safe & not paddling or flooded there .
It's a nice remote aire in the good weather & nearer the summer , gets quite busy then.
Sorry that you are heading back to blighty , but understand we would have done the same .

Hi David

“Quite a bit” was indeed not in your message (y) and yes we survived the night.

Hi Martin , No , I don't think so , I think it became uneconomical when they erected the bridge . Glad you got through the night safe & sound , I wonder what the level was at 3pm this morn , as there seems from the photo a lot of water still draining back.
have a safe onward journey home.

Decided just to move on to Honfleur this morning, "still raining" so no wandering around yet.

No tolls again but this time I had two excuses(y) 32.2 miles the way we came and it would have been 49.9 on tolls AND it would have cost money;)

We set off to walk to La Mailleraye to see the water level but it was a bit wet some we abandoned.

Yes the roads are quite narrow @DavidG58 and a few wagons on them, but OK.
