As all the schools could be closed and public gatherings cancelled due to the coronovirus and I know it's early days and the least of a lot of people's worries but any ideas as to any of the motor home shows being cancelled

Maybe, maybe not

I think it's all up in the air at the moment and anything could happen.

Well if Morocco is anything to go by then maybe. We are in a Tafraoute 2200 metres up in the Low Atlas. They have an annual Almond festival scheduled for this weekend which attracts several thousand people. The authorities have chosen to cancel the event with stages, marquees, roundabouts etc already erected and they have just one reported case of the virus in the whole country.

My daughter works in hospitality, she is at Twickenham today, she has already had one corporate conference cancelled. She is at Cheltenham, Wembley, Ascot and Wimbledon later. She is hoping they are not cancelled.

By the time Peterboro is here, we'll have a handle on what is happening.

If I was a virus and my target were the old an wrinkly, Peterboro would deffo be on my list of places to visit :D

At the moment there are only about 120 known people in uk with the virus,,,Cant see anything being cancelled at the moment,,Sports events still on,,BUSBY.

Right now the virus is being driven by the media and with not so much substance unless you are directly affected.

The reaction may be out of proportion to the threat but if it all kicks off then it will ramp up very quickly and then there will be a domino effect as everything gets shut down. Social pressure will stop personal activity or even just being out in the street. As the panic sets in nothing will stay open if everything around is closed.

I think the government are doing a superb job, certainly better than many other countries in keeping a realistic lid on this. Now if only the BBC, ITV, Sky LBC along with most every newspaper would follow their lead and stop talking it up.

NEC events are still going ahead with extra precautions in place:
Dear Visitor,

In light of the current coronavirus situation, we wanted to personally reach out to update you. The clear advice from Government and Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, is for people not to panic and for large gatherings to continue as normal, and that the risk to individuals is low. Similarly, the Chief Medical Officer said that there is “no clear rationale” for closing events in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

It is essential, we believe, to follow Government advice, for business to continue as normal, and not create unnecessary worry.

The health and safety of all our exhibitors and visitors is our primary concern and priority, and we are following the advice provided by the Government and Public Health England. We are also monitoring the information from WHO and the international trade show community through the Association of Exhibition Organisers and UFI.

To support increased personal hygiene at the venue, we are working closely with The NEC to ensure strengthened measures are in place including sanitisation, focused cleaning and increased medical provisions; this includes but is not limited to:
• Additional signage and bottles of hand sanitiser have been introduced in toilets and catering areas, to make it even easier for customers to clean their hands
• NEC operate a robust daily cleaning schedule which includes monitoring of toilet facilities and all public and event space on a frequent basis
• On site first aid responders
• Specialist cleaners on standby
• Allocated isolation room
• Staff, exhibitors and visitors are also being encouraged to maintain good hand, respiratory and personal hygiene by employing the ‘Catch It. Bin It. Kill It’ ethos
• Hand sanitizer located in the organisers’ office
• For speakers in theatres, any shared equipment - Microphones, headsets, presentation laptops, clickers to be cleaned between each use
• A well-coordinated emergency management system in place at all times
• A comprehensive escalation process, with duty silver, gold and out of hours support
• An onsite Venue Operations Centre which serves as a base for representatives of our security team and West Midlands Police
• Finally, the single most important precaution everyone can take it to observe good personal hygiene, including washing your hands regularly.

Now Brexit is sorted, they have to find something else to fixate on!

I'd like to go to the Newbury show in May.

How much does a full hazmat suit cost?
