With current restrictions, making trips to Europe less popular will left hand drive vans lose value?

How are trips going to become less popular? Motorhomes are becoming much more popular, more trips than ever will be made as these new enthusiasts learn how great it is to tour Europe. I'd guess at least 98% of people don't want to be away longer than 3 months anyway.

Was looking at a left hand drive MH - was already a good price, 6 weeks on Ebay was £22k now £20k

Because of the 90 day rule and Covid won't more vans spend more time in the UK?

A few will, but although there has been loads of moaning, the vast majority are just not bothered about 90/180. It will make absolutely no difference to their motorhoming

I certainly have no intention of spending much time in the UK believe me, taking action now to secure my access, if it meant using it here it would be gone in a heartbeat
What do you plan to do to secure access? , I don’t have a current passport but I would like to travel through Norway and Sweden in the MH in the next few years, so what should I be doing to ensure that I can travel, COVID permitting?

I will certainly not spend any motorhome time in the uk. I think 90 in 180 will not be a problem. So far this year with covid I have only managed 38 days away, 32 of them in France, and three for the annual valet. The other 3 in the New Forest.
My mh is RHD but I find it no problem, previous was LHD and that was no problem either. The UK is just unsuited to motorhomes, and eventually even the 'new' motorhomers will realise this, either go abroad or give it up.

I always drove left hand drive cars in the Uk back in the 70's. Can't see any real reason why mh should fall out of favour?
Even back then there were specialist dealers in the Midlands that sold only left hand drive cars & at a far higher price than the comparable rhd.

I don't understand your question.
If it is regarding the current Brexit negotiations, then nothing has yet been decided, maybe by next Thursday but who knows ?
We should definitely know by the end of December , maybe , possibly.

If caravan and motorhome ownership in the UK continues at this pace, I imagine trips to Europe in your van will become more popular than ever.
I hope not, it's been a pleasure to tour around the continent without the grumblings.🤭🤭

Most newcomers to motorhoming will start in the UK with RHD vans.

In the immediate future many have said on here that trips abroad are off for some time.

The demand for LHD vans will dry up and any that come on the market will struggle to find a buyer.

In the short term, at least, I see a fall in the value of LHD motorhomes as with the one I looked at.

In your dreams!!

My previous MH lhd sold in a week. I got so many calls for it, still getting them weeks later. People buy them to travel and UK is limiting, caravan sites miles away from anywhere but fully booked.

You do it and you don't have a UK MH.

With a shortage of motorhomes at the moment I'd disagree with your outlook. Most people don't go shopping for a left hooker, they find the van/layout they want and then discover it is, that might put them off, it might not. Not being able to spend longer than 3 months away won't make any difference to sales of of left hookers as that aspect of EU touring doesn't not affect the vast majority of people. Only a tiny minority, maybe 2% go away longer than 3 months.

I've been to Spain and France 3 times this year, over to Mallorca by ferry twice and just been to Germany and Poland in the MH - hardly any MHs on any of the ferries or the tunnel - except the ferry from Bibao in Feb

I'd be interested on how you are gaining access over the 90/180? I'm doing it by renting a plot on a site in France. This gives you a postal address + bills (electric) so you can open an account in , for example France,
Nearly everything in France is now electronic. as in buying and registering a car! If you have no 'home' address you can't do it.

That's because of the bug. Hopefully, during 2021 things will return to normal.

Stop worrying. :)

It all boils down to your *wingman* If a LHD in Uk then wingman does additional safety check before maneuvers on restricted views and vice versa when abroad just make sure you use understood communication no *Go* or *No* but positive reinforcement.* Safe to pass*, or *,Not able* and keep to it!
