Hi Guys,

Haven't posted in a while but thought we would share our time driving and camping in Albania, incase some of you are planning on doing it or want to share past experiences? We personally loved Albania. See link below to one of many videos we've made on our trip so far. Cheers guys! Dyl and Tegs

If you are planning on visiting Berat an historic Ottaman regional capital renowned for its architecture. What ever you do don't try and approach it from the south. The Euro atlases and sat nav showed a major road forking off the Adriatic Highway. It was a nightmare! A bloody roman road with ruined bridges, earthquake damage and landslips that hadn't been cleared for decades. Go from the north a reasonably passable road.

We had to back track to the highway after about 30 clicks and approach from the north. I don't think it had been used by anything other than a 4×4 since the Romans. Worth the diversion though.

Hi mate,

We did both! Go to Berat and from the south haha. I think I know which road you speak of because as we came off the motorway at one point there was the strangest of intersections would took us on the road side of the road, a bit off road and then on to a very holey main road but boneless we got there! Haha

We did it 2015 when for 15 clicks off tarmac getting worse and worse in mountains with steep drops and sections off track at the bottom of gorge we decided to turnaround with 40 clicks to go. Wife was sobbing I we hadn't seen anyone coming the other way for a good 20 minutes avg speed probably 5-10 mph

Hello!
We're back home in NZ - onto our next adventure, converting a 7m bus! Still a lot more videos to get out that's for sure haha.
Cheers

If I was closer I would come & give you a hand do your conversion, take care till we see you on your travels again , kind regards Kenny & Tracy

A cool video guys (y)

I've only ever visited Eastern Albania so it was nice to see the coastline.

We have a 7metre a class. We would like to go to Albania as it's sounds stunning. Are the main trunk roads good/bad/very bad/appalling? And the roads to the main coastal towns? Thanks

I'm sure you guys will already be aware but just in case you don't know:

Latest update:
Safety and security (Political situation) - Large-scale protests and acts of civil disobedience are possible country-wide in the run-up to, during and after local elections due on Sunday 30 June; you should check local media for the latest information, remain vigilant and avoid any demonstrations

Great to hear from you two, I miss your videos so I'm pleased to hear there are more to come.
Good luck with the conversation. Are you planning to just use in NZ or transport somewhere ?

Hi all
We did Albania in 2017 entering via Greece & took the coast road. Pretty hilly to begin with but ok once actually on the coast. Very friendly folk, great food & cheap. Really enjoyed our two weeks both wild camping & aires.
Hope to go again next year.
Our van is 7.5m & 5ton.

Thanks mate! This video was shot last November so well out now but yes political times in these areas can sometimes lead to some unpleasant times for sure.
Cheers
