I'm curious as to why TyrePal is so highly rated on this forum? I appreciate that the quality of the product is superior to some of the similar looking versions available on amazon but is it worth that much?
I ask because I have cheap and cheerful amazon ones on the milk float and they have been very consistent and accurate, the solar does its job and overall a very good purchase.
Do people have experience good or bad of the cheaper versions? Have the cheaper versions failed at higher psi?

Mines been pretty consistent with the pressures since fitting. Two or three psi difference between my tyre pressure gauge (good one) and what the pressures read on the unit……so I can live with that.

One battery just gone, so I’ll change them all at the same time to save messing about individually.

I must admit though, I do not check the pressures manually as often as I would do normally. Having to take off the wheel trims for easier access to the sensors is a bit of a faff, so I only do them manually every 3 months or so. (y)

I rarely check tyre pressures now as having checked periodically when first fitting Tyrepal the accuracy was consistently good so I now only check if there is a variance.
I have no need to try a cheaper alternative as Tyrepal has done its job to my satisfaction .

It’s the old adage, you get what you pay for.
I’ve paid nothing and am happy with that. I don’t see the need for tyre pressures permanently displayed.

Do yo see a need for a warning when a tyre is running too hot and likely to blow out or when it had lost pressure and likely to do the same. Do you like to have peace of mind just by a quick glance at a monitor. if the answer is no you don't need a TPM.

Don't know about cheaper tyre pressure monitoring systems, but I do know our TyrePal set-up has lasted over ten years now, transferred between vans. Still works fine. (y)

I check ours before every trip and I check (feel) tyre temperature when we stop after a long drive. They are usually just warm.
I also do that, having been taught to do so whilst learning to drive 50 odd years ago. I also kick the tyres…..my toes are now as accurate as any forecourt Air pump!
The kids probably think I’m round the twist as any mention of their tyres looking a bit low is met with “well, the tyre pressure monitor on the dash doesn’t show anything wrong….”:rolleyes::ROFLMAO:
And of course they never lift the bonnet to check under there……….but I sympathise with that as the modern stuff is a bit of a mystery to me.

I'm sure they are all rebranded from the same Tyredog product.

I used to use a cheap equivilant to Tyrepal and although it worked, the sensors would sometimes leak and let out air. I now have real Tyrepal and they havent caused me any grief apart from spurious warnings from the solar monitor when it hasnt had enough sun and the battery is low.

I'm thinking this as well, a lot of the actual units look the same but I'm not sure about the sensors. Amazon ones look a little different in comparison to Tyrepal but I can't work out if there is better environmental protection with the Tyrepal.

I like to have them on the twin axle trailer tyres as I will get warnings if there’s a problem as you can’t feel anything on the trailer😊

I’ve had nothing but hassle with my tyrepal since the day I bought it.
So much so that I don’t bother using it anymore.

Tried Amazon ones. Returned after a week. Randomly stopped working and the main unit insisted on bleeping every time it woke up which was whenever a gnat coughed. Back to Tyrepal that actually work.

Some say why have tyre pressure monitors, we always check pressures and never get a puncture etc…….. well a monitoring system will warn you of a drop in pressure while driving to enable you to stop before the tyre blows with the resulting body damage and shredding of a tyre that could have been saved.
It’s an early warning that can prevent accidents and also inform you if pressure is dropping before you drive off and has given me peace of mind since fitting.

Looking to buy Tyrepal.

Which tyrepal set up would be best for our 7m Motorhome which is stored indoors.
We probably use it once maybe twice a month over winter.

Been using the cheapo Chinese ones for a couple of years and they have been perfect so not sure I'll spend any more on a branded version if they ever fail.

We had a Chinese version before buying the genuine. The difference is that the genuine actually….works! The pressures are accurate and reliable, which was certainly not the case with the Chinese version.

We use tyrepal and have done so since our caravanning days. As with tyres and brakes, good quality products always used. No corner cutting as a failure could cost us more than money. Safe travels.

Over the years I have used different Tyrepal models and wouldn't be without them having saved our bacon a number of times.

For the last few years I have used the TC215 system ... I particularly like this one a it has a larger easy read display and it also covers the toad (trailer), a feature which is easy to switch on/off when not towing. I also have the booster which I plug in at the rear of the motorhome to ensure signals from the trailer.

EDIT; The unit is rechargeable or can be used plugged in but a charge lasts for many hours.

Nor do in. I can check everytime I fill with fuel if I wish to .
as with the radiator level.

The Solar comes with a power lead as well, so no problems with charging the unit. (y)

Manually checking tyre pressures & condition is a static check.

TPMS is a live monitor that reacts to live changes to a tyres’ health.

If your car has manufacturer built in TPMS nearly all of those are a single alarm for all tyres.

TyrePal and unbranded TPMS after market sensors are alarms and monitoring for each individual tyre.

With TyrePal versus unbranded TPMS you’re buying into a known firms’ support and quality.

I couldn’t replace the batteries in the sensors of my first tyre monitor and was expected to buy new sensors after about 18 months. I now have a TyrePal Solar and it is much better. It alerted me to a slow puncture which could easily have gone unnoticed during the journey until it caused a real problem.

Bitten twice with the cheap ones then bought tyrepal and had no problems for 2yrs it's a gamble and in my experience not worth the money, what's not made in China now, its the back up and spares service you pay extra for.

As an aside, did anyone have to get their wheels rebalanced after fitting Tyrepal. Im just about to fit a solar colour pro system.
