After reading the recent thread about toilets (thanks, Jim :) ), I've decided to buy a spare cassette to carry with us. We don't seem to have much room left in the cassette once the light has come on, so this will stop the panic!

I have the manual for our toilet but I'm not sure which model we have. The manual is for a Thetford C-200. However, inside, it mentions CW, CWE and S/CS. How do I know which model I have, so that I buy the correct cassette. Or do all these models have the same cassette but some other variance? I'm confused! Can anyone help, please? Thank you :)

As I found out, Thetford cassettes may all look very similar, but they are not interchangeable.
You need to get exactly the correct cassette, no other will fit.
  • You need the basic model number.
  • And then the version number
  • Then whether its left or right handed. (Usually a number with a L or R in it)
I found the number I needed on a label inside the cassette housing of the loo.
I had to put the phone in the slot to take a photo as it was unreadable from the outside

You may also find the number on the underside of the actual cassette
or on the inside of the cassette loading door.

You will probably need to order it, as most places do not stock them as there are so many variations.
They are also not cheap, no change from £100.

Thank you SO much! I'll have a look and see if I can find a number somewhere :)

So, I have a label on the bottom of the space where the casssette goes and another on the cassette itself. They both have the same details;

Model: Cassette C-200S VE
No: 2353562
Code: 20100611

There's nothing to say whether it's Left or Right. How do I know, please?

I'd just give your chosen supplier a call and ask.
(Jackson Leisure supply online)
I'd presume the number tells them L or R

The other way of doing it to tell them which side of the van the cassette door is, and whether your loo faces forward or back!

Thank you so much. We're back in the UK again very soon, so I'll give them a call :)

Many online suppliers do a fresh up kit, a new cassette and a new seat, normally about £110. I got one on Gumtree or it could have been Marketplace, when it was advertised the add didn't mention it was new, but it was the man had it as a spare then sold his van, I paid £30 and it was still in it's wrapping

You just need a C200 cassette the other letters are for the internal fitting into the van.
When getting a spare cassette try and avoid the wheeled version because I think they have less capacity due to wheel clearance.
Also to make cassette last longer don’t put toilet paper in it, we have a small bin with nappy bag in to take the paper.

And a spray bottle made up of toilet cleaner solution. Dont flush unless 💩 and just spray once the flap is closed again. Makes it last longer than flushing, unless you’re on a site and then it doesn’t matter as it’s easy to empty 👍🏻

When we got our spare cassette it was cheaper to get the Fresh Up kit than to buy the cassette on its own! so check both prices before ordering.
